Pierre Jaquet-Droz, a genius watchmaker active in the 18th century. He opened his watch workshop in 1738 and demonstrated exceptional technical skill and decorative artistry in the creation of automata (mechanical automatons), which were popular at the time. He gained the patronage of the Spanish royal family, and in his later years, he moved his base to London (1774) and Geneva (1784) with his son Henri-Louis, dedicating himself to watchmaking. His creations were cherished by royalty and aristocrats worldwide.

Although the workshop established by this great watchmaker temporarily closed in the mid-19th century due to a lack of successors, the Swatch Group, unwilling to let it fade into history, launched a revival project in the late 20th century. In 2000, they acquired the majority of the shares held by investors worldwide, thus resurrecting the Jaquet Droz name for the modern era.

The 21st-century Jaquet Droz, a fusion of traditional watchmaking techniques and cutting-edge modern technology, offers a wide range of products from three-hand models to tourbillons and perpetual calendars, centered around collection names that pay homage to the three workshops opened by the founder and the cities where he was active. Furthermore, all models consistently use the highest quality materials, such as opaline, enamel, and natural stones for the dials, and blued steel for the screws and hands.
