Effortlessly styling Longines' elegant watch collection
Based in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, the watch brand LONGINES has been crafting timepieces with the themes of "elegance," "tradition," and "performance" for 185 years this year. With extensive experience as a timekeeper for numerous global sporting events and as a partner to international sports federations, Longines is also renowned for creating beautiful and elegant timepieces. This time, Tomoki Sukezane, our magazine's editor-in-chief, proposes styling techniques for nine watches from three Longines collections: the Longines Master Collection, La Grande Classique de Longines, and Conquest. Why not try changing your watch to match your outfit?

Change Your Watch as You Change Your Clothes
"Longines began producing pocket watches with chronograph functions, featuring horses and jockeys, in 1878. Historically, horse racing has traditions and culture as a noble pursuit requiring formal attire. Because Longines is a brand with a sense of dressiness and the dignity of a gentleman, I focused on a gentlemanly overall impression for the clothing coordination. Another point was that the underlying theme for this project was 'combining contrasting elements,' so while giving each element—clothing, watch, model's atmosphere, hairstyle—a sense of surprise, I aimed for a cohesive and cool final result." Referencing Tomoki Sukezane's styling, we hope you'll try coordinating watches and fashion to find your own style.
Longines Master Collection
The "Longines Master Collection" showcases Longines' technical prowess and expresses modern elegance through traditional details. New colors have arrived for this timelessly designed model. In addition to the classic black, these new models feature new gray and blue dials, offering versatility that even covers business styles. The Roman numerals or bar indices exude a high level of sophistication. For this minimal and elegant collection, we propose three styles centered around navy suits.
La Grande Classique de Longines
Longines' proud ultra-thin watch, "La Grande Classique de Longines," was born in 1992. Its form is inherited from the renowned "Agassiz" collection. The quartz models achieve a slimness of just 4.40mm, and even the automatic models are only 7.05mm thick, embodying a delicate and sharp silhouette. The dials boast a wide variety of designs, including precious models set with diamonds. For this collection, the most elegant among the three categories introduced here, we recommend pairing it with a trench coat that is both light and possesses a certain hard-boiled sexiness.
Conquest
The "Conquest" series expresses Longines' signature sporty elegance. This series uses stainless steel and ceramic materials to protect the watch from minor scratches and provides the excellent technical characteristics that sportsmen demand. Furthermore, the refined beauty of the "Conquest" is one of its charms, despite its sporty design. The subdued color palette allows it to be worn in any setting. For this sporty series, pair it with a rugged leather rider's jacket for a sophisticated look.
