Kanton cuisine restaurant "Tairyo Rouran" at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba is offering the trending "Ma-katsu / Mala (Sichuan pepper and chili) cuisine" menu. The spicy and numbing flavors are perfect for the hot summer. The period is from Saturday, June 1st to Saturday, August 31st.

Five Mala Dishes Debut This Year

In addition to the five basic flavors of Chinese cuisine – sour, bitter, sweet, salty, and spicy – this season features "numbing" dishes, a hallmark of Sichuan cuisine. You can enjoy the "Ma-katsu / Mala cuisine" menu, centered on spicy and numbing dishes, designed to whet your appetite during the hot summer months.

The menu includes "Yodare Dori" (mouth-watering chicken), chilled chicken coated in a rich, flavorful sauce packed with spices and herbs; "Mala Kaisai" (stir-fried seafood with Sichuan pepper and chili), featuring fresh seafood stir-fried in a numbing, spicy sauce; "Mala Tofu" (braised tofu with meat and vegetables in a clay pot), a visually striking dish of meat and vegetables simmered in chili and Sichuan pepper, served piping hot in a clay pot; and the classic "Ma La Tan Tan Men" (Sichuan-style dan dan noodles). These dishes offer a range of spicy and numbing flavors and appealing presentations.
Also new is the "Mala Nikuman" (mini mala steamed buns), whose vibrant, deep orange dough signals their spicy filling, bringing the mala experience to dim sum. For fans of "shibi-kara" (numbing spiciness), the ability to adjust the spice level for dishes other than dim sum is a welcome feature.
