Japan's largest cycling resort, "PLAY atre TSUCHIURA," opens in late March!
Atre's new brand, "PLAY atre," was born in March 2018.
It opens as Japan's largest experiential cycling resort.
The station building "Perruche Tsuchiura" at JR Tsuchiura Station in Ibaraki Prefecture has been converted and renewed as "PLAYatre," Japan's largest experiential cycling resort.
At the starting point of the 180km "Tsukuba-Kasumigaura Ring Ring Road" cycling course, a base camp for enjoying cycling—complete with showers, coin lockers, rental bicycles, a cycle shop, and a cycle cafe—will open on the B1F and 1F floors as the first phase next spring.
Furthermore, towards the grand opening planned for autumn 2019 and beyond, a cycling hotel, restaurants, and a food market featuring popular Ibaraki shops are scheduled to open sequentially.
"PLAYatre" is a new Atre brand developed under a completely different concept from existing Atre and Atre Vie facilities.
Themed around breaking away from traditional station buildings focused on shopping, it aims for a new model of station building—a "content consumption type station building model"—that prioritizes "content creation" and "experience provision" rather than merely selling goods.
