Biocoop, the French organic supermarket with 140 stores worldwide, opens its second Japanese location in Nakameguro.
Founded in Paris in 2008, Biocoop has experienced rapid growth over the past decade, expanding to 140 stores globally. Since opening its first Japanese store, Biocoop Azabu Juban, in December 2016, the brand has aimed to make organic living more accessible. It offers a wide selection of organic produce, French imported organic sweets, and Japanese seasonings, earning significant support, particularly from families.
Beyond food, the store also boasts a comprehensive range of daily necessities, including detergents. Notably, the Nakameguro store features an impressive 400 varieties of organic cosmetic items.
The pricing is another attractive aspect. While organic products often carry a perception of being prohibitively expensive, Biocoop offers them at just 1.2 to 1.5 times the general market price. For example, their "Organic Graham Shokupan" (whole wheat bread), made with 100% plant-based ingredients and a fragrant whole wheat aroma when baked, is available in a 3-slice pack for 198 yen (excluding tax).
Another highlight is the "Organic Okkope Milk." Biocoop staff have even nicknamed it "perfect milk" due to its exceptional taste. Processed using low-temperature pasteurization and non-homogenization methods, it retains the natural goodness of the ingredients, offering a flavor reminiscent of freshly squeezed milk.
With an array of fresh produce and everyday items at accessible prices, Biocoop is generating excitement for making organic foods, once considered out of reach, a more familiar part of daily life.
