Japan's largest cycling resort, "PLAY atre TSUCHIURA," opens on March 29!
Japan's largest experiential cycling resort, "PLAYatre TSUCHIURA," will open at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 29, 2018.
The facility is a conversion of "Peruchi Tsuchiura," an ekibil (station building) at JR Tsuchiura Station in Ibaraki Prefecture.
Located at the starting point of the 180km "Tsukuba-Kasumigaura Ring Ring Road" cycling course, this base camp for enjoying cycling—complete with showers, coin lockers, rental bicycles, a cycle shop, and a cycle cafe—opens on the B1F and 1F levels.
Furthermore, with a grand opening planned for autumn 2019 and beyond, a cycling hotel, restaurants, and a food market featuring popular Ibaraki shops are scheduled to open sequentially.
"PLAYatre" is a new brand from Atre, developed under a completely different concept from the existing Atre and Atre Vie brands.
Themed around breaking away from traditional ekibil focused on shopping, it aims for a new ekibil model—a "kot-consumption ekibil model"—that prioritizes "transmitting experiences" and "offering experiences" rather than merely selling goods.
