Easily prepare authentic Korean flavors! Introducing the new frozen Tteokbokki, made with 100% organic rice for a chewy texture.
In February 2018, Seikatsu Club Consumers' Co-operative Union introduced "Frozen Tteokbokki," allowing consumers to easily prepare authentic Korean flavors at home.
This product uses rice cakes made from 100% organic rice, cultivated without pesticides in Korea, making it a rare ingredient even locally. Simply warm the included gochujang-based spicy sauce, made with oligosaccharides, organic sugar, and kelp extract, then stir-fry it with the rice cakes and your choice of ingredients like onions and fish cakes. For an added touch, top with cheese for a delicious variation. Preparation takes only about 10 minutes, making it perfect for working mothers or anyone who wants to make the most of their time. Adjust the spiciness with the amount of cheese and vegetables to create your own original tteokbokki.
Bringing Authentic Korean Flavors Home: A Culinary Exchange Bridging Japan and Korea
Seikatsu Club engages in a "Culinary Exchange" with Korea's Dure Consumers' Cooperative Union, aiming to foster cultural exchange through food. Seikatsu Club jointly purchases items handled by Korea's Dure Consumers' Cooperative. This marks the second such initiative, following a successful one in 2016.
The exchange between Seikatsu Club and Korean cooperatives dates back to 1983, when members of a Korean cooperative visited Seikatsu Club to learn about consumer cooperatives, which were not yet widespread in Korea at the time. Since then, exchanges between the two countries' cooperatives have continued through programs like the trainee system, the Japan-Korea Cooperative Movement Council, and joint tours.
Korea's Dure Consumers' Cooperative shares similar principles with Seikatsu Club, with members and producers collaborating on the joint purchase of safe and reliable ingredients. This initiative features two popular items from Korea's Dure Consumers' Cooperative Union's joint purchases that are also familiar in Japan: "Frozen Tteokbokki" and "Samgyetang" (Ginseng Chicken Soup). Both are produced with a focus on domestic self-sufficiency and without unnecessary additives.
