Craft butter sweets brand "Butters" makes its Kansai debut. It opened for a limited time at the Takashimaya Osaka store from November 18, 2020 (Wednesday) to February 28, 2021 (Sunday).
The first product from Butters, "Craft Butter Cake," launched on April 7, 2020, sold out over 5,000 units on its first day. Subsequently, through online sales and pop-up events in various locations in the Tokyo metropolitan area, the brand has grown in popularity, selling over 200,000 units in six months, making it a favorite for gifts and personal enjoyment.
Responding to numerous requests from Kansai residents for a store, primarily through online sales, Butters has now made its highly anticipated Kansai debut at the Takashimaya Osaka store for a limited time, starting November 18.
Butters' Signature Product: "Craft Butter Cake" Made with Rare Butter from the Isle of Jersey
The signature product, "Craft Butter Cake," uses rich single-origin butter made from Jersey milk, sourced from the Isle of Jersey, the home of Jersey cows. It is baked in three layers, with a milk jam filling sandwiched between two distinct textures: a galette bretonne and a financier.
The milk jam incorporates skim milk powder, a byproduct of the butter-making process, demonstrating a commitment to deliciously utilizing all components, even the "butter's companions."
The surface is pressed with a French iron plate during baking, creating a crisp texture, while the milk jam puffs up softly. The lightness of the texture is also characterized by the air pocket formed in the center of the cake.
In addition to "Craft Butter Cake," "Butter Candy Kyōame Butter" is also available. Kyōame Butter uses rich butter from Hiruzen, Okayama Prefecture, Japan's leading producer of Jersey cows. Crafted by skilled artisans at Iwai Seika in Uji, Kyoto, using traditional open-fire, small-batch cooking methods over a long period, each piece is meticulously handmade. By incorporating skim milk powder, a byproduct of Jersey butter production, into the candy, it offers a refreshing taste with a subtle milky sweetness complementing the rich butter flavor.
