Global Creative Award "YouFab Global Creative Awards 2020" Now Accepting Submissions!
The global award "YouFab Global Creative Awards 2020" (commonly known as YouFab), organized and operated by FabCafe Global and Loftwork, is now accepting submissions worldwide.
The submission period is from Saturday, August 1, 2020, to Saturday, October 31, 2020, 12:00 PM (JST).
YouFab is a global award aimed at discovering creators who present new questions beyond "making (FAB)" to the world, and fostering a network where creators and society can connect.
Challenge convention. Defy convention. Hack convention. We aim to circulate such spirits throughout the world.
In 2020, due to the impact of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus infection), the world simultaneously experienced lockdowns and social distancing, forcing significant changes in societal structures and lifestyles. Therefore, for this year's YouFab, we have set the theme as "Contactless (by default)." We are seeking concrete proposals from around the world that address the future question: how can we design and engineer humanity, physicality, or "real experiences" in a world where "contactless" is the premise?
A new "Special Prize," the "NewHere Award" sponsored by JR East, will be established to solicit works on the theme of "the future of mobility after COVID-19." Ms. Megumi Wakabayashi, editor, will serve as chief judge, joined by new judges DJ and activist Kampire Bahana, and fashion designer Steve Tidball. As digital fabrication becomes increasingly integrated into society, we seek perspectives from creators worldwide who look towards the future, considering the ideal relationship between technology and society.

NewHere Award (1): USD 1,000 + Certificate
The "NewHere Award," a special prize for YouFab 2020, is part of the "NewHere Project," which aims to create new mobility services from a user perspective. It calls for submissions on the theme of "New Mobility" under the premise of YouFab 2020's theme, "Contactless (by default)." In light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, which necessitated lockdowns and social distancing, how should "mobility" be updated? The "NewHere Award" seeks ideas that re-examine the value and possibilities of movement, based on the fundamental theme of YouFab,
"Contactless (by default)."
