The "LOVOT," which received this award, is a family robot characterized by its adorable appearance. With over 50 sensors, including a hemispherical camera, hemispherical microphone, illuminance sensor, and thermography, combined with deep learning capabilities, it moves with lifelike agility.
Previously, "LOVOT" garnered significant attention through numerous media features and awards both domestically and internationally. This includes winning The VERGE's "BEST ROBOT" at "CES 2019" in January 2019, exhibiting at "SXSW 2019" (South by Southwest), the world's largest creative business festival held in Austin, USA, in March 2019, and participating in "Cannes Lions 2019," one of the world's top three advertising awards, held in Cannes, France, in June of the same year. It also received the "COOL JAPAN AWARD 2019" in June.
Regarding this award, the company's representative director, Kaname Hayashi, commented, "When people actually interact with 'LOVOT,' they respond very positively, not just in Japan but also in Europe and America. I am extremely pleased that we can convey a new value to people worldwide from Japan. At our company, we believe that future robots will not only perform tasks in place of humans but also play a role in nurturing them, which is why we have set the mission: 'To bring out human potential through robotics.' To achieve this, we are pursuing the vision of 'creating a presence that builds trust between humans and robots, filling lives with warmth and security,' and will continue to explore technology that enriches the human heart."
