A fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary sensibility. A limited-time "Sensu Shop" opens at Hankyu Men's Osaka.
June draws to a close, and summer is truly here.
On the first floor of Hankyu Men's Osaka, a pop-up shop featuring a curated selection of sensu (folding fans) is open for a limited time until July 18 (Tuesday).
From Kyoto's 'Hakutake-do' and 'Miyakicho Baisenan' to Tokyo's 'Shinkyoseido' and 'Hosekiken,' alongside fans embodying Japan's traditional techniques, a diverse array of sensu—including modern designs suited to contemporary lifestyles—are gathered in one place.
A wide selection of sensu with simple, cool designs suitable for business settings is available.
Since ancient times, sensu have been considered auspicious. Beyond their practical use for staying cool, their meaning of 'spreading out' also makes them ideal gifts.
This timely event offers a chance to discover exquisite pieces where the artisans' skill and new sensibilities intertwine, from Kyo-sensu and classical fans to fashion-forward designs incorporating novel materials and aesthetics.
