The first-ever notebook PCs with built-in smart tracker 'Tile' will be released by HP in 2020!
HP is introducing laptops equipped with the technology of "Tile," the US market's No. 1 smart tracker for finding lost items by sound. The company has announced a multi-year partnership.
Tile Inc., which offers smart location services through its smart tracker (anti-loss tag) "Tile" deployed in 230 countries and regions worldwide, has announced a multi-year, multi-product partnership with PC manufacturer HP Inc. With the launch of the first-ever notebooks with built-in Tile*, Tile is entering a new vertical market.
Find items by sound, even offline or powered off
Starting in early 2020, Tile's technology will be available as an option on the HP Elite Dragonfly. The Tile app allows users to locate a lost or misplaced laptop and check its last known location.
Even if the device is beyond Bluetooth detection range, it can be located through the "Tile Community," where other Tile users worldwide can help find it. These features work even when the laptop is offline or powered off.
This is achieved using the newly developed Tile app for Windows on the HP Elite Dragonfly and the user's mobile Tile app. The HP Elite Dragonfly with Tile enabled offers the same detection range and audio features as Tile's premium hardware.
Of the estimated 29 billion BLE (Bluetooth low energy) devices to be shipped over the next five years, nearly 1 billion are expected to be laptops. For Tile, the integration of its technology into such devices represents a significant business pillar.
Since 2018, Tile has announced new partners including Bose, Sennheiser, and BLE chip manufacturers Nordic, Qualcomm, and Toshiba, bringing its total to over 20 companies. This number is expected to grow, with the number of integration partners in 2020 projected to more than double the current figure.
*As of December 2019. Based on HP's internal survey of notebooks with built-in Tile tracking hardware and software at the time of shipment. The HP Elite Dragonfly is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2020.
