Last year's "Summer Happy Hour," which saw 110,000 participants, is returning this year! Octopus Energy will once again offer electricity bill support this summer.

From 'Saving Electricity' to a Summer of 'Peace of Mind'

Summers are growing hotter year by year, and intense heat is expected again this year. Furthermore, with prolonged inflation and uncertainty surrounding energy prices, many households are concerned about their finances.
Especially during the summer, many people hesitate to use air conditioning due to concerns about electricity bills. However, with increasingly prolonged heatwaves, the risk of health issues like heatstroke from excessive saving is also rising.
In this context, Octopus Energy, which ranked first in growth rate compared to 2024 among the top 30 electricity companies [1], launched "Summer Happy Hour" last year. This initiative redefines the concept of 'saving' from 'enduring' to 'smart usage,' aiming to balance comfortable living with reduced household expenses by leveraging times when solar power is abundant.
[1] Data source: Electricity consumption (kWh) for low-voltage lighting in 2024 and 2025 from the "Electricity Demand Statistics Table [3-(1) Electricity Demand Performance]" by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy. The top 30 companies refer to the top 30 companies by total electricity demand for low-voltage lighting in 2025. The growth rate is calculated by dividing the total electricity demand for low-voltage lighting in 2025 by the total electricity demand for low-voltage lighting in 2024, then subtracting 1. For Octopus Energy, the growth rate compared to 2024 is 63%.

Visual concept for "Summer Happy Hour 2026"

Octopus Energy has decided to hold "Summer Happy Hour 2026" for its customers from Thursday, July 16, 2026, to Wednesday, September 16, 2026, continuing from last year.
Summer Happy Hour is a customer service that offers benefits based on electricity usage during the "Happy Hour" from 11 AM to 1 PM every day. It supports a lifestyle where electricity can be used comfortably and affordably, while taking advantage of daytime hours when solar power generation peaks.

Last year's inaugural "Summer Happy Hour" saw participation from approximately 110,000 customers. The average benefit per customer was around ¥335, a tenfold increase in rewards compared to the previous year's summer electricity-saving measures. It was highly praised by many customers as a signature summer initiative of Octopus Energy.
Amidst prolonged inflation and increasingly harsh summer heat, Octopus Energy will once again support customers in having a summer where they can use electricity with peace of mind.

Towards a Summer of Assured Electricity Use

Since its founding, Octopus Energy has advocated "Greener electricity, greater savings," based on the belief that "green choices should not come at the expense of household budgets or comfort."
This summer, we will implement "Summer Happy Hour," a "discount based on usage" service, enabling customers to use electricity with confidence when they need it, by leveraging green energy hours.
This is not merely a discount program, but an initiative unique to Octopus, designed to support both comfortable living and reduced household expenses.
