The long-awaited subscription service for the smart tracker "Tile" has launched in Japan!

The smart tracker "Tile," the No. 1 shared in the U.S. for finding lost items by sound, has launched its long-awaited subscription service in Japan.

Alerts notify you if you misplace something important.

Tile Inc., a leading company in smart location services, has announced its subscription service, "Tile Premium." "Tile Premium" is a service that bundles unique "Tile" features such as smart alerts for preventing misplacement and 30-day location history, and this is its first offering in Japan.

The standout feature of "Tile Premium" is its smart alert. By combining geofencing (※1) with Bluetooth®, it can send a notification to your smartphone if you leave a "Tile" behind. The alert is triggered when the geofence is established (requiring a 5-10 minute stay) and you move a few hundred meters away in a straight line (the notification is not immediate upon losing Bluetooth® connection).

In a survey conducted in January 2019 among Japanese Club Tile (※2) users, nearly 80% of the 1,005 respondents answered that they "definitely want to try using smart alerts."

※1 Geofence: Technology that automatically performs designated tasks by setting virtual boundaries on the ground and entering or exiting those boundaries.
※2 Club Tile: The official membership program for "Tile" in Japan.

The various new features in "Tile Premium" will support a wide range of users seeking greater convenience and peace of mind. All existing app features will continue to be provided as before, and in addition to smart alerts, "Tile Premium" offers three more services.
(Specifications may differ from "Tile Premium" in other countries.)

● Unlimited sharing management for "Tile"
One "Tile" can be managed by multiple people, such as friends and family. While the existing feature allowed sharing with yourself plus one other account, "Tile Premium" allows unlimited sharing. For example, if you share a "Tile" attached to a TV remote with your entire family, anyone in the family can connect to the "Tile" and find the remote (※3).
※3 Simultaneous Bluetooth® connection to multiple smartphones is not possible, so connections must be switched.

● 30-day location history
"Tile" has a function to record the last detected location, but "Tile Premium" allows you to view the location history of each "Tile" device for the past 30 days. This makes it easier to find lost items, even if you don't realize they are missing for several days, by tracing the places the "Tile" has been.

● 3-year extended warranty
The standard manufacturer's warranty for "Tile" is one year from the date of purchase. However, for "Tile Premium" users, this is extended to three years (excluding some models ※4). If it breaks within three years of purchase, it can be replaced with a new one.

In December 2019, it was also introduced to approximately 20,000 "JapanTaxi Tablets" nationwide, operating as "moving Tile access points." Going forward, by installing access points in locations prone to lost and found items, such as stations and airports, we will fulfill our mission to "eliminate the time, resources, and frustration associated with searching for lost items."

● "Tile" Community: Finding items together
With the "Tile Community," where users worldwide can search for your "Tile," other users' "Tile" apps automatically connect when they pass near your "Tile," sending your "Tile's" location information to the cloud and notifying you of its location via the "Tile" app. This feature allows you to find lost items even if you lose them in a distant location, such as while traveling abroad or on a business trip, with the cooperation of users around the world.
