Claris Japan Releases FileMaker 19
On May 21, 2020, Claris Japan K.K. (Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo) announced today the release of its new version, Claris FileMaker 19 (hereinafter referred to as FileMaker 19). Concurrently, the Tokyo region for Claris FileMaker Cloud (hereinafter referred to as FileMaker Cloud), FileMaker 19's cloud service, has become available. Furthermore, it was announced that connectors supporting Japanese services have been added for the first time to Claris Connect, another flagship product.
FileMaker 19 and FileMaker Cloud
FileMaker 19 is the first new version released under the reborn Claris brand since our company name change last August. It is an open platform for developers to create sophisticated custom apps in a short time. With the launch of the Tokyo region for FileMaker Cloud, Japanese customers can now use FileMaker 19 with confidence via the cloud service.
Brad Freitag, CEO of Claris International Inc. and President of Claris Japan, the U.S. parent company of Claris Japan, made the following statement regarding the announcement of the new FileMaker 19:
"In today's rapidly changing world, cost constraints are increasing, and companies are required to innovate quickly, improve productivity, and achieve results. Recognizing this agility as essential, we have enabled the use of JavaScript, the world's most widely used programming language, in FileMaker 19. We encourage our over 50,000 corporate users to take advantage of the ability to integrate add-ons and vast JavaScript packages that will be added over time."

■New Connectors Added to Claris Connect:
Claris Japan offers Claris Connect, another flagship product alongside FileMaker 19. Claris Connect is a cloud-based service that enables the integration and linkage of various apps, services, and data. It offers nearly 50 connectors, including widely used enterprise apps such as Twitter, Slack, Dropbox, Box, and Twilio. Recently, connectors for Japanese services, CloudSign from Bengoshi.com Inc. and Chatwork from Chatwork Ltd., have been newly added.
Daichi Tachibana, Director and Head of the CloudSign Business Division at Bengoshi.com Inc., commented as follows:
"CloudSign is a web-based cloud contract service used by over 80,000 companies. Through the Claris Connect connector, it can now be integrated with various other services. We expect that the automation of business processes, including contract execution and electronic approval, as well as data linkage from information managed in other services, will further enhance convenience and expand the scope of utilization for our existing CloudSign customers."
Masayoshi Yamamoto, Representative Director, CEO & CTO of Chatwork Ltd., commented as follows:
"By integrating Claris Connect and Chatwork, it becomes possible to consolidate and automate various services used in business, such as calendar apps, sales support tools, and file sharing services, within Chatwork. For companies that have been using multiple services, Chatwork alone will eliminate the need to open other services repeatedly. We are confident that this integration will significantly improve the operational efficiency of businesses."
Claris Japan plans to continue focusing on implementing connectors for widely used services in Japan to further enhance customer convenience. The services planned for future addition are as follows*:
● LINE WORKS (Works Mobile Japan Corp.)
● SmartHR (SmartHR, Inc.)
● YuMake (YuMake LLC)
● PostcodeJP API (PostcodeJP API)
● Ekispert (Val Laboratory Ltd.)
(In no particular order)
* Dates are undecided. Planned additions may change without notice.
Claris Japan K.K. aims to support all companies seeking to promote digital transformation by streamlining and improving the efficiency of business processes through workflow automation with Claris Connect. Claris Connect features and product information can be found here: www.claris.com/ja/connect

FileMaker Cloud Case Studies and Response to COVID-19
We believe that supporting government agencies, educational institutions, welfare organizations, and especially medical professionals affected by the spread of COVID-19 is of utmost importance. As various organizations implement containment measures for COVID-19, many medical and administrative institutions face resource shortages and require IT-driven operational efficiency. To address this situation, we have been providing support leveraging our expertise since February 2020.

As the first initiative in this effort, we are supporting the development and operation of the ECMOnet: CRISIS (Cross-sectional ICU Information Search System) for COVID-19 countermeasures. This system collects data from over 570 facilities nationwide (with a total of 5,500 ICU beds), primarily from institutions certified by the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine and designated by the Japanese Association for Acute Medicine, onto FileMaker Cloud. It aggregates the number of patients on ventilators, ECMO, and the outcomes of ECMO treatment for severe COVID-19 cases. While CRISIS is a private database, the aggregated CRISIS data is publicly available on the society's website (https://covid19.jsicm.org)) .

In addition, as part of regional initiatives, FileMaker Cloud is in operation at many medical institutions, including the operation of the Sapporo Medical University-led Sapporo Health Center's COVID-19 Patient Acceptance Status Database (COVID-Chaser) in the Sapporo Medical Area, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Southwest Tokyo Medical Area (Shibuya Ward, Meguro Ward, Setagaya Ward) Novel Coronavirus Infectious Disease Information Sharing System (CoVISE). Dr. Yasuhito Yamamoto, Director of the Management Planning Office and Head of Pediatrics at the Tokyo Metropolitan Hiroo Hospital, which developed CoVISE, commented as follows:
"Through the operation of CoVISE, the sense of isolation among hospitals was dispelled, facilitating patient acceptance and leading to a rapid decrease in patients on home isolation in the southwestern wards. FileMaker Cloud, which can quickly provide a highly secure cloud environment, is an indispensable tool for responding to COVID-19, where needs change rapidly."
