Just 90 Minutes from the City: Experience Rich Activities in Nature-Filled Lake Kawaguchi

SANU 2nd Home is a subscription service that offers "another home in nature." Instead of renting or buying a second home, users can register for a monthly subscription of ¥55,000 via their smartphone to freely choose and stay in cabins located in natural settings with easy access from the city. It offers a new lifestyle—#SANU Life—where one can repeatedly visit nature from the city and live their life.
While the natural scenery outside changes with the large windows, the design and specifications remain consistent across all locations, providing a sense of returning home even when visiting a new place for the first time.
Equipped with ample facilities for working or leisurely reading, and even for preparing elaborate meals with local ingredients, the cabins include kitchens, tableware, cutlery, and seasonings. Nearby local restaurants also offer opportunities for interaction with the community.
Furthermore, in collaboration with the Kamaishi Regional Forest Cooperative, they are implementing their unique regenerative environmental program "FOREST FOR FUTURE." This involves utilizing domestic timber to enrich Japan's forests and developing uniquely designed cabins with minimal environmental impact, ensuring low ecological load on the land.
Through a plan to plant 7,500 trees (equivalent to 50 SANU CABINS) in the forests of the Tohoku region's Kamaishi area using a portion of their revenue, they achieve CO2 absorption exceeding their construction-related CO2 emissions, thus becoming carbon negative. This embodies a "regenerative mechanism" where the more cabins are built, the more beneficial it becomes for the natural environment.
The newly opened Kawaguchiko 1st is located in Narusawa Village, a cool highland area at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters on the northern slopes of Mt. Fuji. It is known as a prestigious villa area and is home to the "Aokigahara Sea of Trees" and lava caves formed by volcanic eruptions.
Additionally, Lake Kawaguchi, surrounded by lakes and mountains, offers numerous outdoor activities such as water sports and hiking, making SANU CABIN an ideal base for leisure.
Its accessibility within a 90-minute drive from the city is another appeal of Lake Kawaguchi. Away from busy roads, one can own a second home nestled in a serene forest that nurtures a rich ecosystem, with wild Japanese pepper trees growing naturally. This allows for spontaneous visits and a full immersion in a "life lived in nature," enjoying work, reading, or simply strolling amidst the natural surroundings.

Introducing "SANU CABIN – Dog Friendly" for Stays with Your Beloved Dog

Concurrent with this opening, "SANU CABIN - Dog Friendly," a cabin designed for stays with dogs, has been launched at this location, responding to numerous user requests. While maintaining the basic specifications of SANU CABIN, facilities have been updated to ensure a comfortable stay with your dog, allowing you to fully enjoy time with your cherished family members in nature.
The member slots for the service, launched in April 2021, sold out on the same day. Since the grand opening in November of the same year, they have steadily increased their locations, aiming to open 50 cabins across 7 sites by early July 2022.
The SANU 2nd Home subscription slots are already sold out, and waiting list registrations are currently being accepted. As new member slots become available, they will be offered to subscribers on a first-come, first-served basis, so it's worth checking if you're interested.
