Savor Summer's Flavors and Nature with a "Stream Slow Life" Concept

HOSHINO RESORTS Oirase Stream Hotel, the only resort hotel situated along the Oirase Stream, has launched the "Oirase Summer Deep Green Journey" plan, allowing guests to experience the lush summer beauty of the gorge. This 3-day, 2-night package includes a special summer-only dinner course beginning with a "Stream Aperitif," and a unique breakfast served along the stream, exclusive to this plan.
Guests can fully enjoy the vibrant riverside nature and seasonal ingredients, with the option to join a private tour highlighting the summer's best sights.
Flowing through Towada-Hachimantai National Park, the Oirase Stream is a designated Special Protection Zone within the national park, boasting diverse and beautiful nature with over 300 species of moss. In summer, as the forest deepens into a rich green, the trees teem with vitality. Visitors can enjoy the scenery of wildflowers in full bloom, powerful waterfalls and their mist, and the sight of willow catkins—white, fluffy seeds of the black poplar—drifting through the air.
Against this backdrop of abundant nature, and under the concept of "Stream Slow Life," the hotel offers a plan designed to fully savor the summer at Oirase Gorge. This includes a summer-limited dinner course at the French restaurant "Sonore," private tours to summer highlights, and hot springs, all enjoyed from rooms and an open-air bath with views of the stream, allowing guests to experience the unique tastes and natural charms of the season.
The summer-limited dinner course begins with a "Stream Aperitif" at the French restaurant "Sonore," where guests can enjoy contemporary French cuisine and fine wines. While listening to the gentle sounds of the stream from the riverside terrace, guests savor an aperitif and amuse-bouche. Afterward, they move to the main dining area, inspired by the Oirase Gorge's nature, to enjoy a nine-course meal featuring an abundance of summer delicacies such as sea urchin, abalone, and corn.
The signature dish is a cold appetizer combining tuna, a representative flavor of Aomori, with asparagus, a summer vegetable. Tuna tartare and asparagus are artfully presented in a gateau style, enhanced with the refreshing aroma of summer herbs. To further elevate the dining experience, approximately 2,000 bottles of wine, focusing on renowned vintages from Burgundy, France, are available. The pairing of each dish with its ideal wine is a highlight of the meal.
Terrace Breakfast by the Stream
Breakfast is served on the terrace along the Oirase Stream during the time when the gorge is most radiant, allowing guests to savor seasonal ingredients. The Western-style set includes colorful dishes like croissant sandwiches and quiches, along with a special seasonal item: corn toast, featuring corn at its peak in summer. This dish offers a delightful contrast in taste and texture, with crisp corn topped with a sauce blended from egg yolk and cheese. Accompanying the meal are recommended seasonal wines and juices made from seasonal fruits, allowing guests to fully enjoy the bounty of the season in an elegant morning setting, serenaded by the gentle murmur of the stream.
Additionally, guests can opt for a private tour guided by a nature expert who knows Oirase Gorge intimately. The guide will tailor the half-day tour to the day's weather and conditions, leading guests to the summer's most scenic spots. They can explore the lush green forest with its approximately 100 types of trees, vibrant mosses, and dynamic waterfalls, experiencing the unique landscapes of summer.
After the tour, guests can relax in the "Open-Air Bath with Stream View," which overlooks the Oirase Stream. Immersed in the gentle, skin-friendly waters flowing from Mount Hakkoda, they can refresh themselves while listening to the soothing sounds of the stream.
