The Hiramatsu Kyoto Launches a Day Use Plan for a Special Day of Gion Matsuri Yamaboko Float Viewing and Exquisite Dining
TRAVEL | THE HIRAMATSU Kyoto
The Yamaboko Parade Returns After Three Years! A Luxurious Plan to Fully Enjoy the Climax of Gion Matsuri and a Dinner
THE HIRAMATSU Kyoto will offer a day-use plan with Gion Matsuri Yamaboko Parade seating and dinner for two days only: July 17th, the "Saki Matsuri" (first festival), and July 24th, the "Ato Matsuri" (second festival), when the Yamaboko Parade takes place.
Italian or Japanese Cuisine: Savor a Choice of Dinners to Conclude a Summer Night at Gion Matsuri
THE HIRAMATSU Kyoto is a small luxury hotel, reborn from a machiya townhouse built around the late 19th century. Preserved and restored, it was overseen by the master craftsman of sukiya-style architecture, Nakamura Gaiji Kōmuten. Located just a three-minute walk from Karasuma Oike, the starting point of the Ato Matsuri parade, in Yakugyō-machi on Muromachi-dori Sanjo Agaru, it holds a deep connection to the Gion Matsuri.
This day-use plan offers a special package including reserved seating for the Yamaboko Parade, the highlight of Gion Matsuri—a grand event that has colored Kyoto summers for over a thousand years as a festival of Yasaka Shrine—and dinner. After enjoying the traditional event while feeling the energy from the viewing seats set up along Oike Street, which connects Shijo Karasuma (the starting point of the Saki Matsuri) and Karasuma Oike (the starting point of the Ato Matsuri), guests can relax in their hotel room before finally indulging in dinner at THE HIRAMATSU Kyoto.
For dinner, guests can choose between an Italian or Japanese cuisine course. At Ristorante La Luce, which offers Italian cuisine with a Kyoto-esque touch of Japanese essence, the chef uses fragrant ayu (sweetfish) and Kamo eggplant to express Kyoto's summer. At Kappo Izumi, guests can savor a course filled with the chef's artistry, including dishes that evoke a sense of coolness with seasonal hamo (pike conger) and beautifully presented soups.
Due to factors including the pandemic, the Yamaboko Parade is being held for the first time in three years, since 2019. This plan allows guests to experience both the traditional event and the hotel's exquisite cuisine, promising a truly special day.
