A Luxurious 10th Anniversary Celebration Befitting a World-Class Casino Hub

Macau, once a small Portuguese colony, is a European settlement with a history over 300 years older than Hong Kong, possessing a unique culture distinct from other Asian nations. It is now a popular tourist destination for Chinese visitors to its casinos, with revenue from Macau's gambling industry showing a steady upward trend.

Sands Macao, celebrating its 10th anniversary, was the first integrated resort in Macau, pioneering the concept with its comprehensive facilities. At the Sands Macao 10th anniversary luncheon for members of the press, who were invited from Macau, Hong Kong, mainland China, and overseas, Edward Tracy, President and CEO of Sands China, delivered a speech. Sheldon Adelson, owner of US-based Las Vegas Sands, which operates casino hotels worldwide, also made an appearance, looking in good health.

In his speech, Sheldon Adelson remarked, "On May 18th, ten years ago, the opening day of Sands Macao, some 30,000 people gathered, so many that they pushed over the doors trying to get on the escalator. That was the most exciting day of my life. Everyone predicted failure, but I didn't. I was confident it would succeed. The integrated resorts operated by Sands China have everything people desire, everything adults want to enjoy during their holidays and travels. I am delighted to have been able to create the entertainment hub of Asia that I envisioned. In two years, once completed, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge – which will be the world's longest sea-crossing bridge – will make the journey between Hong Kong's Lantau Island and Macau just a 20-minute drive. Macau will then have a second airport, Hong Kong Airport, connecting 180 cities with 100 airlines. Let us begin preparing for two years from now."

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, connecting Hong Kong, Zhuhai in Guangdong Province, and Macau, is a massive project spanning nearly 50 kilometers with a total construction cost exceeding 740 billion yen. Starting from Hong Kong's Lantau Island, it will cross the Pearl River Delta and then split into a Y-shape, with one branch leading to Zhuhai and the other to Macau.

Furthermore, in anticipation of the bridge's completion, Sands China is constructing 'The Macau Parisian,' its fourth integrated resort property in the Cotai district and fifth overall in Macau. This integrated resort, centered around a hotel with approximately 3,000 rooms, is set to open. Building on the prosperity of its casinos, the success of Macau and Sands China continues unabated.
