Brand Concept: "EMBRACING JAPAN’S BEAUTY"

For over 250 years, the residence of the head family of the Mitsui (Hokke) stood opposite Nijo Castle in Kyoto.
The new luxury hotel, "HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO," opening on this site, incorporates numerous historical remnants, including the Kajii-miya Gate, passed down from that era. Guests will be welcomed with the unique design and hospitality of HOTEL THE MITSUI.
The people of Japan have cultivated a unique aesthetic sensibility, finding supreme beauty in nature's seasonal changes and sharing the emotions evoked by this beauty with others.
This sentiment, which resonates with traditional Japanese aesthetics, is expressed through the brand concept: "EMBRACING JAPAN’S BEAUTY."
Under this concept, the hotel cherishes Japan's unique beauty found in its traditional culture, architecture, crafts, and cuisine, while offering exceptional relaxation through meticulous attention and seamless service.

The hotel features a total of 161 rooms, including 22 suites. Each room boasts a spacious design with an average area exceeding 50 square meters.
The interior design was handled by Andre Fu. Guests can experience a Japanese-modern aesthetic, embodying a design philosophy of modernity, comfort, and serene luxury.

Notably, the "Onsen Suite" offers an open-air bath with its own natural hot spring, creating a special sanctuary complete with custom landscaping, stone lanterns, and stonework.

Tadahiro Takagi, who previously served as Executive Sous Chef at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo, has been appointed as the hotel's Executive Chef.
The culinary offerings are equally impressive, featuring the signature teppanyaki restaurant "TOKI," led by Tetsuya Asano, who was the first Japanese to serve as Vice President of Main Dining at Ritz Paris; the all-day dining "FORNI" offering Italian cuisine with views of the Japanese garden; and the bar & lounge "THE GARDEN BAR."
Shiki no Ma
The "Shiki no Ma," a modern reconstruction in cypress of a part of the former Mitsui family residence, serves as a special space that can be used for tea ceremonies, private gatherings, or as private dining rooms for the two restaurants.

The spa area, "Thermal Spring Spa," utilizes natural hot spring water sourced from the property. With the concept of "Embracing Tranquility," the space, themed around time, sound, light, scent, and water, offers healing and relaxation enveloped in serenity and water.

Private hot spring baths are also available. The approximately 100-square-meter private space includes a living area and a tsubo-niwa (small Japanese garden) designed specifically for this space, offering a supreme hot spring experience.
The "Spa Treatments" offer original hotel treatment menus, allowing guests to enjoy a rich "spa journey" alongside the thermal springs and private onsen.

Furthermore, the hotel offers sophisticated experiential menus that can only be enjoyed at this location.

These include tea ceremonies at the Important Cultural Property, the former Mitsui family's Shimogamo villa, art tours of HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO, and wellness breathing exercises on refreshing mornings, providing a lineup for healing mind and body.
General Manager Manabu Kusui commented, "At HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO, under the brand concept 'EMBRACING JAPAN’S BEAUTY,' we respect the memories of the time of the Mitsui family's head residence (Hokke) which stood here for over 250 years, as well as the traditions and culture of Kyoto that have been built up over time. We welcome all our guests with spaces and services that they can truly enjoy. We promise to offer not only accommodation but also memorable experiences that will last a lifetime, through dining at our restaurants and the healing and relaxation provided by our spa area with its natural hot springs."
