Majestic Ottoman Turkish Architecture x Luxurious Indian Decor
Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces, a hotel group under the Tata Group, a major Indian conglomerate that also owns luxury car manufacturer Jaguar, operates 105 hotels in 62 cities across India, and 17 hotels worldwide in locations such as the Maldives, Bhutan, the United States, and Australia. They embody world-class service and modern luxury through Indian hospitality, offering everything from dreamlike beach resorts to authentic Maharaja hotels.
The Taj Palace Marrakech, which has opened in Marrakech, a city also designated as a World Heritage site, is a luxurious palace hotel blessed with a scenic location overlooking the entire Atlas Mountains and the lush gardens of the Palmeraie. The hotel offers a total of 161 rooms, including 25 suites, 1 royal suite, and 4 riads designed with a Moroccan traditional style theme.
The hotel's interior and architecture were overseen by Stuart Church, an American artist and designer also renowned as an Orientalist. The room decoration style is inspired by the Kasbah, the old city inhabited by the indigenous Berber people of Morocco, and fuses majestic Ottoman Turkish architecture with opulent and luxurious Indian decorative elements. Church's signature techniques are evident everywhere, from the lustrous, smooth silks and velvets to the exquisite ceiling decorations featuring hand-painted gold leaf frescoes.
The restaurants offer a variety of dining options, including "Le Rumi," which boasts cuisine with a Moroccan specialty twisted with Mediterranean flair. Furthermore, the Taj Spa, spanning 3,800 square meters and offering Moroccan therapies and various treatment menus, is scheduled to be completed soon.
Marrakech, Morocco, offers a wealth of attractions, from the World Heritage old city, historic mosques, and palaces to trekking in the Atlas Mountains, with peaks reaching over 4,000 meters. A stay at the Taj Palace Marrakech is sure to further enhance the exotic allure of your journey.
