A Stay to Enjoy Nature's Embrace and Abundant Hot Springs

HOSHINOYA Guguan, Hoshino Resorts' first luxury hot spring resort in Taiwan, will grand open on Sunday, June 30, 2019, in Guguan, a hot spring area in the suburbs of Taichung, Taiwan, with the concept of "a pavilion in a hot spring valley." Leveraging the abundant hot springs and its location nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains, the resort offers rooms with semi-open-air hot spring baths fed by natural spring water in every room, expansive public spaces that capture the essence of wind and water, and cuisine tailored to various dining occasions, promising a stay that allows guests to fully immerse themselves in the rich natural beauty of Guguan.

The landscape design harmonizes with and resonates with the natural surroundings. Water is a central element throughout the property, from the "Water Garden," reminiscent of a forest walking path, and waterways adorned with flowers, to the main baths, pool, spa, dining areas, and library lounge. Every space is designed to allow guests to feel the presence of water.

In the guest rooms, guests can enjoy bathing while feeling the gentle breeze from their semi-open-air hot spring baths, and spend their time as they please in the spacious living areas and bedrooms. Most rooms are maisonette style, featuring the "Shinra" special suite with a terrace and three bedrooms; "Tsukimi," with a hot spring area twice the size of other types; "Kanon," with a sunken living room (horigotatsu); "Yamagassumi," a flat layout suitable for the elderly or families with children; and "Suimei," with impressive views from the windows. A wide variety of room types are available to suit different stay purposes.

The public spaces are designed with the abundant hot spring water and the natural spring water from Taiwan's Central Mountain Range. Guguan hot spring is a colorless, odorless, weakly alkaline carbonated spring, known as the "beauty spring" for its gentle effect on the skin. Guests can fully enjoy its quality in the main baths. The baths consist of Japanese-style wooden indoor baths and uniquely designed open-air baths, offering an immersive bathing experience in an open space that brings guests close to the natural surroundings of Guguan.

Throughout the resort, water features are integrated to create a sense of its presence. The Water Garden, with its intricate network of waterways, resonates with the soothing sound of flowing water. After bathing, guests can enjoy the flowers blooming along the waterways and the cool breeze, experiencing a stay that rejuvenates both mind and body.

The cuisine offers a rich lineup designed to satisfy guests even during extended stays focused on hot spring therapy, presenting a novel culinary experience that blends local Taiwanese ingredients with Japanese culinary techniques. For example, the "Nanban-zuke" (sweet and sour pickled fish) made with sturgeon is prepared by flash-frying the fish to condense its flavor, then marinating it in a tangy Nanban sauce for a refreshing taste that is perfectly suited to Taiwan's warm and humid climate. Not only the cooking techniques but also the tableware, featuring Japanese ceramics from Kutani, Bizen, and Arita, delight the eyes as well as the palate.

Guests can savor the hot springs accompanied by the sounds of rustling leaves and flowing water, feeling intimately connected to the rich natural environment of Guguan. HOSHINOYA Guguan is a new hot spring resort where one can indulge in luxurious moments.
