A One-Day Wellness Program to Experience, Watch, and Beautify Through Balinese Dance

At HOSHINOYA Bali, a resort in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia, the 'Balinese Dance Beauty Retreat,' a wellness program combining traditional Balinese dance, dining, and spa treatments, is being held until May 27, 2019 (Monday). This exclusive one-day, one-group wellness program begins with early morning yoga, followed by Indonesian cuisine, a Balinese dance experience, spa treatments, and a traditional Balinese dance performance, aiming to achieve beauty both inside and out.

In the dance lesson, participants will experience Balinese dance, characterized by the dazzling makeup and costumes of female dancers, and the expressive movements of the eyes and intricately moving fingers. Guests will be dressed in authentic dance costumes and have their makeup applied, then engage in a 60-minute private lesson, moving their entire bodies—from joints to muscles—slowly and sometimes with tempo, paying close attention to their fingertips, all to the rhythm of the traditional gamelan music. This is particularly designed to enhance the beauty of the back by moving the shoulder blades and focusing on the line from shoulders to waist, sharpening the senses and muscles of the body that are not often used in daily life.

After the dance lesson, enjoy a traditional Indonesian meal. The menu includes Jamu, an Indonesian herbal drink made with a blend of spices passed down through generations, and Bubur, a gentle Indonesian rice porridge, to care for the body from within. Following this, relax in a spa room surrounded by lush greenery with a 180-minute holistic full treatment and massage. Treatments using 'Lulur,' a scrub passed down to Indonesian royal women, and cosmetics with herbal ingredients will soothe the body and leave the skin radiant and glowing.

After dinner, enjoy a traditional Balinese dance performance. By learning the basic movements and poses in the Balinese dance private lesson before attending the performance, guests can gain a deeper appreciation for the richness and depth of Balinese traditional culture.
