The Touring Outdoor Hotel "The Caravan"
Closer to nature than a resort hotel, yet more hotel-like than glamping or camping, this is the new way to enjoy the outdoors: "The Caravan."
The hallmark of this outdoor hotel is its elevation of the glamping concept – "enjoying a luxurious outdoor experience without bringing anything" – to "enjoying a luxurious and comfortable outdoor experience just like at a hotel resort." We want to offer the services and hospitality of a hotel, which are often overlooked in outdoor settings.
This article introduces some of the services renewed this year, along with the 2018 schedule.
While The Caravan typically offers a free-flow of high-quality drinks, including Moët & Chandon champagne, wines, whiskies, and mojitos made with fresh mint – a selection unmatched by any other glamping facility – they now also offer a plan without free-flow drinks, allowing those who don't drink alcohol to enjoy their stay as well.
Furthermore, each location includes experiential activities tailored to the season and region. Without the hassle of making reservation calls, guests can arrive at The Caravan empty-handed and fully immerse themselves in the local food and activities. The Caravan's signature transfer service remains available.
The Caravan at the Stone Temple
The first "The Caravan" of 2018 kicks off in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, offering views that resemble a stone temple.
In mid-April, amidst blooming cherry blossoms, you can savor the unique "luxury of nothingness" that spring offers.
The tour of the underground lake at the quarry, OHYA UNDERGROUND, is a time for adults to rediscover their childlike wonder. Dinner will also be served at this "Oya quarry" site. Surrounded by stone, there's no need to worry about rain.
The accommodation tents will be set up at "Michi-no-Eki Utsunomiya Romantic Village," one of Japan's largest roadside stations, conveniently located near the Utsunomiya IC. You can relax in an area not typically used for accommodation and then unwind in a hot spring. This is a 1-night, 2-day experience that encapsulates the charm of Utsunomiya.
The Caravan at the Vast Grasslands at the Foot of Mt. Fuji
During Golden Week, "The Caravan" takes place in the verdant grasslands at the foot of Mt. Fuji.
Adjacent to Asagiri Food Park, the accommodation site, you'll spend a luxurious time in a secret meadow, normally off-limits, with an unobstructed view of Mt. Fuji at the foot of the mountain.
The familiar Mt. Fuji and the lesser-known charms of its foothills.
"The Caravan" combines these two elements, offering a blissful journey where food, experiences, and location all come together.
Spend a different kind of vacation this Golden Week with someone special...
The Caravan at Shinshu's Ayers Rock
In late May, with the first signs of early summer, The Caravan is held at a sky-high pasture.
The venue, Uchiyama Ranch, is a scenic grassland with a view of Mt. Arafune. Mt. Arafune, located across Shimonita Town in Kanto Province and Saku City in Nagano Prefecture, is a 1,423-meter-high mountain. Its flat summit and steep cliffs are said to resemble a ship cutting through rough waves, giving it its name.
Viewed from the ranch, its appearance is akin to Ayers Rock itself. Enjoy exquisite dishes crafted from Shinshu's abundant ingredients, accompanied by the refreshing highland breeze and a sky full of stars.
The Caravan at the White Cliffs
Before the rainy season begins, The Caravan in early summer takes place in Wakayama Prefecture's Yura Town, known as the "Aegean Sea of Japan," marking its first appearance in the Kansai region.
The reason it's called the Aegean Sea lies in its white cliffs and blue sea that captivate the viewer. The scenery, so stunning it might make you believe you've traveled abroad, is a unique luxury of this place. Witness the sunset sinking into the sea, the white cliffs gleaming divinely in the light, and a sky full of stars at night. Every moment captured here is a picturesque, original landscape.
Before dinner, a cruise is offered to view the venue, Shirasaki Ocean Park, from the sea, leading you to the special dinner setting. Then, a unique dining experience, exclusive to The Caravan for one night only.
Savor the rich bounty of Wakayama's mountains and sea, transformed into exquisite dishes using miso and soy sauce, for which Yura Town is said to be the origin. Delight your eyes and palate with the seasonal flavors, local specialties, and the chef's masterful techniques.
