Eliminating Hassle Before You Arrive at the Airport

While many airport operations are already digitized, the process of checking in luggage to be checked remains a counter-based procedure.

As a solution to this cumbersome process, RIMOWA is releasing the "RIMOWA Electronic Tag," a suitcase with integrated digital functionality for baggage check-in, allowing you to complete it before arriving at the airport.


Download the app to your smartphone and connect via Bluetooth to display your luggage tag information on the suitcase's integrated display. Two AAA alkaline batteries are required for operation and are only used when data is updated.

Once loaded, the information is saved and displayed even without batteries, making it convenient.

The operation is extremely simple. Along with online check-in, you receive the luggage tag data issued by the airline on your smartphone, which is then read by the module built into the suitcase. The luggage tag information is then displayed on the screen next to the suitcase handle.

Upon arrival at the airport, simply hand over your suitcase at the airline's designated drop-off counter to complete the process.

Operation began with Lufthansa German Airlines in March 2016, and EVA Air is scheduled to follow in December. Efforts are underway worldwide to establish the environment for its use at more airports and with more airlines.
