vol.8 Jacques Servières' Garden
The Chalky Pollen - A Garden of Endless Seasons
While previous installments explored gardens of those long departed, this time we take a trip to the garden of a living artist, the sculptor Jacques Servières.

What is the power of a single imagination? It was with this question in mind, lost while searching for a garden, that I stumbled upon this place.
Nestled quietly along the banks of the Marne, on a site that suffered an air raid in 1939.
Here, a landscape resembling ruins lay spread out, arranged like epitaphs.
The Marne is a tributary of the Seine, joining it not far from Paris.
Jacques Servières continues to create over 40 sculptures on site.
Perhaps it is only when exposed to lightning, rain, wind, and snow that these colossal stones truly come alive?
Winter renders it stark, spring delights with the vibrant hues of wildflowers, summer hides within the dense foliage, and autumn once again blankets it with fallen leaves.
An unfinished garden, still in progress after 25 years.
The sound of chisels echoes again today.
Bathed in chalky pollen, the sculptor-gardener's imagination at work is immeasurable.
And amidst the ever-changing plants and the river's caprice, a magnificent and enigmatic garden evolves.
