MUSIC | Yoko Ono Forms New "Plastic Ono Band" with Keigo Oyamada and More!

Releases "Between My Head and the Sky." Japan Tour in November

The "YOKO ONO PLASTIC ONO BAND," which Yoko Ono began with John Lennon in 1969. True to its "plastic" name, the band has evolved with protean flexibility. In 2008, it officially resumed activities under the co-production of Yoko and Sean Lennon. This year, they present "Between My Head and the Sky" with talented musicians from Japan and Manhattan! The pop sensibility of the Cornelius Group has been infused into Yoko's often-perceived esoteric artistry, resulting in a work that more clearly conveys Yoko's artistic intentions. A live performance is also scheduled for November.

Japan and US Geniuses Converge at the Legendary "Sear Sound" Studio!

The recording for this album took place at New York's "Sear Sound" studio, known for being the place where "Double Fantasy," a collaborative work by John Lennon and Yoko, and also John's posthumous work, was recorded. Invited to this studio were Yuka Honda of The Coral Sea, Keigo Oyamada and Yuoko Araki of Cornelius, and Hirotaka Shimizu (all from the Cornelius Group). Yoko had taken a strong liking to them after they performed together at the showcase live for the "CHIMERA MUSIC" label in Tokyo in January 2009. Furthermore, talented improvisational musicians from Manhattan, such as Daniel Carter and Indigo Street, gathered. Sean Lennon, who participated as a producer alongside Yoko, played the role of uniting the Japanese and Manhattan contingents, completing an album that is both highly individualistic and remarkably cohesive.

An Astonishing World Born from Avant-Garde Sound and Pop Sensibility.

From the moment Yoko Ono's "mad" vocals ride a driving beat on the exhilarating "Waiting For The D Train," you're captivated. In the following track, "The Sun Is Down!," Yoko sings in a style akin to spoken word poetry. The sophisticated electro-pop sound underneath and Yoko's artistic inclinations are fully expressed, creating a unique world with an addictive quality that occupies your mind. The album's title track, "Between My Head And The Sky," particularly showcases the strengths of both the Japanese and American musicians. As the album progresses, you'll be surprised by the emergence of gentle songs like "Watching The Rain," which exude a mellow atmosphere. This is a work that allows you to experience the unwavering artistry of Yoko Ono in a new form!

Yoko Ono. At 76 years old, her unique brilliance and presence are extraordinary.

YOKO ONO PLASTIC BAND
The band was formed in 1969 by artist, musician, and peace activist Yoko Ono with her husband, John Lennon. This "superband," which featured participants like George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Eric Clapton, was put on hiatus. During this period, Yoko released numerous solo albums, but in 2008, she revived the "Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band" in New York, co-producing with her son, Sean Lennon. Yoko's unwavering, innovative stance and Sean's sophisticated yet powerful arrangements create a magnificent chemistry, reviving the band as one that embodies both eternal evolution and her timeless "origins."
