Motion Blue Yokohama Presents: Shinpei Ruike 5 piece band
Shinpei Ruike, the trumpeter for the jazz-fusion band urb (pronounced 'aabu'), which drew over 300 people to Shibuya's streets, quickly gained attention as a pioneer of crossover music, blending jazz with pop, rock, and R&B. He made his major debut in 2004 and achieved popularity. He will appear at Motion Blue Yokohama on January 30th (Thursday) with his third album, "4 AM".

Shinpei Ruike is a highly skilled trumpeter, widely regarded as the best of his generation in the Japanese jazz scene. He is active in notable groups such as "Naruyoshi Kikuchi Dub Septet" and "Routine Jazz Sextet," and participates in numerous other units. In 2011, he gained attention for dubbing the trumpet parts for the charismatic character 'Jun-ni' in the anime "Kids on the Slope."
Three years after his second album "Sector b," produced by Naruyoshi Kikuchi, he will perform at Motion Blue Yokohama with his own 5-piece band, which showcases a new direction with the addition of guitarist Takuya "TAK" Tanaka.
The new album "4 AM" is meant to be enjoyed at full volume.
The "Shinpei Ruike 5 piece band" is a five-member ensemble that adds an electric guitar to the four-member lineup that had become the standard for Ruike's solo work until now.
Their youthful yet raw sound is characterized by a strong rock influence, reminiscent of Miles Davis's band in the 70s. To capture all of this raw energy, the recording was intentionally done live at a venue called velvet sun in Ogikubo. While Ruike's unparalleled beautiful tone resonates in the ballad tracks, the album as a whole is more energetic and passionate than anything before.
