Azumi debuted in 1999 as the vocalist and lyricist for wyolica. She established her identity with her gentle, transparent vocals and serene, poignant lyrics. Her solo album "Piano to Azumi," released in 2011, topped the iTunes jazz chart and reached number four on the overall chart, steadily solidifying her position as a solo singer. Her talents extend beyond music; she is also a model, has appeared in stage productions, works as a DJ, and this spring launched her own hair accessory brand, "Tuno by Azumi," at Isetan Shinjuku's "Re-Style Tokyo." Now, her latest album has arrived.

From "Urusei Yatsura no Theme ~Ram no Love Song~" to Yumi Matsutoya's "Mamotte Agetai" and Princess Princess's "M," this album "NEW STANDARD" boldly reimagines iconic Japanese songs with a jazz sensibility.

The recording features a stellar lineup of musicians, both emerging and established, including Keiji Matsumoto on piano, BJ Katsuhiko Sasai on bass, and Masayoshi Amakusa on drums. Special guests include Gen Ogi on percussion, Motoharu & Dubb Zonbi on horns, and Yosuke Onuma on guitar. Their intense performances, combined with Azumi's intimate vocals, create a remarkably live and immersive session.

To celebrate the release of "NEW STANDARD," Azumi will hold a live performance on Friday, May 31st, at JZ BRAT Sound of Tokyo in Shibuya, featuring members like Keiji Matsumoto and Masayoshi Amakusa. Special guest musicians Motoharu & Dubb Zonbi (from SOIL & “PIMP” SESSIONS), who collaborated on the album, will also join to guide the audience through a jazzy evening.

Azumi's vocals, infused with a smooth essence, reveal new facets of these familiar classics. This is the new standard she proposes for a new era.
