Poetry, Music, and Visuals Evoking Primal Landscapes
"kizunaworld.org" was launched by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Tomoyasu Hirano. Under the concept of "doing everything one can as an individual," the project widely collects and offers works from artists who support it, both in Japan and abroad, to solicit donations. Even two years after the Great East Japan Earthquake, it continues to provide ongoing support by connecting individual sentiments.
The 28th work is titled "alone@woods."
This visual work is composed of poetry by Yuko Araki, music by Sakana Hosomi, and direction by Ed Tsuwaki.
“I only know a small part about you
and that's not enough to understand
what you're really like
people are deeper than that
I know a small part about you
and that small part is enough
I don't need to know more
we only need to be together” (from the poem within the work)
The film opens with snow-capped mountains reaching towards the clouds and climbers. It unfolds in an unexpected way, accompanied by nostalgic music. The poem does not clarify its message, nor does it advocate for its necessity. It is a work that invites acceptance as it is, without trying to decipher the creator's intent.
The work is downloaded by making a donation of any amount from 1,000 yen to 20,000 yen via PayPal. The entire amount collected (excluding payment processing fees) is equally distributed to five organizations representing the fields of "medical care," "children," "food," "housing," and "energy" as "support needed now" in the disaster-stricken areas, with donations made quarterly.
Recipients of donations:
"Doctors of the World Japan" | Medical activities and pharmaceutical procurement, focusing on mental healthcare in Ohtsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture.
"Children's Music Revival Fund" | Restoration and provision of musical instruments for educational institutions and support for music activities.
"Sunrise Genki Mura Project" | Support for delivering rice to the elderly living in temporary housing.
"Voluntary Architects Network Shigeru Ban / Great East Japan Earthquake Tsunami Support Project" | Support through the installation of simple partition systems for evacuation shelters.
"Institute for Energy Economics and Policy, Connection and Warmth Project" | Support for disaster-stricken areas through solar, solar thermal, and biomass energy.
