Last December, jazz singer Karen Aoki released her seventh album, "Tranquility," themed around film music. To commemorate its release and celebrate the New Year, she will hold a live performance on Friday, January 11, starting at 8 PM at Art Cafe Friends in Ebisu.

A Collection of Love Songs Arranged from Film Themes

Karen Aoki and her close-knit musicians have recorded "Tranquility," an album of love songs used in films. The title, meaning relief, peace, or serenity, was chosen to help modern, stressed individuals relax and connect with themselves. The album features 13 tracks, including Karen Aoki's original "Middle of Darkness."

The album includes arrangements of theme songs and insert songs from acclaimed films, such as "Dreams" from the 1994 Hong Kong film "Chungking Express" and "She" from the 1999 film "Notting Hill." These romantic love songs evoke the atmosphere of their respective eras, stirring nostalgic feelings. In addition to these, the album features 13 tracks, including Karen Aoki's original song "Middle of Darkness."

At the live performance on Friday, January 11, she will present a setlist primarily featuring songs from "Tranquility," accompanied by the album's production members. On Sunday, the 13th, her birthday, she is expected to deliver a performance of delicate and expansive vocals, celebrating the New Year.
