Featuring Milestone Tracks from Matsuura's Career

DJ and producer Toshio Matsuura, who laid the foundation for club culture in Japan as a member of "United Future Organization (U.F.O.)" in the 1990s. Even after going independent from U.F.O., he has continued to be active in clubs and festivals worldwide, and is one of Japan's proudest world-class DJs.

He has now produced his first album under his own name. Traveling solo to London, he recorded with a group of elite young musicians under the supervision of his close friend, DJ Gilles Peterson.

The album features covers of seven milestone songs from Matsuura's DJ career. The selection spans a wide range of club hits from the 1990s to the 2010s.


The album also includes "L.M.Ⅱ," a new song that can be seen as an evolution of "Loud Minority," a representative track from his U.F.O. days. It is a tribute album to the music that has moved him. It also aims to pass on the appeal of club jazz to younger generations.

Regarding this album, Matsuura said, "The concept is to cover milestone songs that greatly changed my life through the 'dancing to jazz' movement that came from London in the late 1980s, and that I, as U.F.O., helped create in Japan, and which have profoundly influenced me as a DJ throughout my career.


Thirty years have passed since the birth of club jazz, and many masterpieces have been created. However, especially in Japan, the scene has not been well passed on to younger generations, and I hope that this occasion will lead to a re-evaluation of these works and artists. I believe this is also related to the fact that artists from that era are gaining renewed attention in the UK as well. This is not just a nostalgic endeavor; it was created by involving artists who are leading the current and future scene," he stated.
