Munich Philharmonic Announces Japan Tour
The Munich Philharmonic, a prestigious German orchestra led by Chief Conductor Valery Gergiev, is coming to Japan. Six performances will be held from late November in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Sendai. Pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii, the first Japanese artist to win the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will be the soloist. BMW Group, also headquartered in Munich, is supporting the tour as a sponsor.

Valery Gergiev's First Japan Tour as Principal Conductor
The Munich Philharmonic boasts a history of over 120 years, dating back to its predecessor, the Kaim Orchestra, founded in 1893. In September 2015, the internationally acclaimed Russian conductor Valery Gergiev took up his post as Artistic Director and Chief Conductor.
Reflecting the collaboration between Gergiev and the Munich Philharmonic, the program features a compelling mix of German and Austrian works by composers such as Beethoven and Bruckner, alongside Russian masterpieces by Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich. For five of the six performances, Nobuyuki Tsujii will join as soloist to perform Beethoven's "Emperor," a masterpiece of piano concerto.

BMW Group, also headquartered in Munich, is supporting this tour as a sponsor.
What kind of music will Gergiev, in his new role as Artistic Director and Chief Conductor, and the Munich Philharmonic, along with Nobuyuki Tsujii, create? Unfortunately, most performances are already sold out, underscoring the immense anticipation for this "must-hear" Japan tour among classical music fans.
