Giles Peterson, known as one of the world's most influential DJs, embarks on a journey through Brazil, the land of samba, to capture the essence of "the music that symbolizes Brazil today." The documentary, ‘Brasil Bam Bam Bam: The Story of Sonzeira – Giles Peterson and the Search for the Perfect Beat,’ opens on Friday, October 9th, at Shibuya Uplink.

Alongside Album Production, Giles Explores the City to Deepen His Understanding of History and Culture
Giles Peterson, who has introduced countless club music tracks and is known for his fondness for Japan, is the subject of this documentary. It follows his journey to Brazil, Rio de Janeiro – the "paradise of music" he has adored since his teenage years.
The film features not only Giles but also renowned musicians who have graced Brazilian samba. Legendary samba singer Elza Soares delivers a passionate rendition of the classic "Águas Brasileiras," and percussion master Naná Vasconcelos shares insights into the history of samba. The sessions with these and other illustrious musicians are a highlight not to be missed.
As he works on the album, Giles ventures into the city, deepening his understanding of its history and culture. Experiencing Rio through his travels is another compelling aspect of this film.
Throughout the screening period, a variety of events are planned almost daily, including talk sessions with Giles and Hitoshi Nakahara, an evening of "relaxed Brazilian music" performed by Corolida, and a live performance and talk by DJ Toshio Matsuura and Orange Pekoe, close associates of Giles.
In conjunction with the film's release in Japan, a crowdfunding campaign was launched to support street children in Brazil. Although the campaign has now closed, a portion of the funds raised, along with 50 percent of the net box office profits, will be donated to the NGO "FIGHT for Peace."

For over 25 years, Giles has been sharing the allure of Brazilian music with the world. Now, he embarks on a journey to Brazil, the homeland of samba, with the goal of creating music that embodies the spirit of contemporary Brazil.
Giles visits the historic "Companhia de Técnicos Studio" in Rio de Janeiro to form "SONZEIRA," a project that signifies "cool" or "awesome sound" in Portuguese.
Day and night, he engages in sessions with superstars and emerging artists from the Brazilian music scene, aiming to complete ‘Brasil Bam Bam Bam,’ an album composed of both classic covers and new tracks.
Featuring collaborations with numerous famous musicians and capturing Rio through the eyes of traveler Giles, this is an exceptionally uplifting documentary that will make your heart and body want to dance.
