A Work That Offers a New Aesthetic Experience

"kizunaworld.org" was initiated by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Tomoyasu Hirano. Under the concept of "doing everything one can as an individual," the project continues to support disaster-stricken areas by raising donations through the wide collection and provision of works by artists from Japan and abroad who support the initiative.

Ryoji Ikeda, who provided the music for the 16th installment of the project. While his role can be simply described as composer/artist, his activities are diverse. He crosses over into fields such as architecture, film, and dance, exerting a significant influence across various genres. He is an artist who continuously explores the relationship between the physical properties of phenomena and human perception by mathematically interpreting music, time, and space.

Let's consider specific examples of his work. An installation featuring an internal structure like a rectangular prism, resembling a wall made of 180cm acrylic panels, embedded with LED lights. 35mm film densely printed with random numbers. A massive monochrome projection that looks like a reconstruction of a barcode... While difficult to express in words, there is no doubt that his works, whether they be sculptures, music, or visuals, offer a new aesthetic experience to those who encounter them.

The works can be downloaded by making a donation of 1,000 yen per unit via PayPal. The entirety of the collected donations, excluding transaction fees, will be delivered as "support needed now" across five fields: "medical care," "children," "food," "housing," and "energy," with donation recipients being considered and decided upon as the situation evolves. Furthermore, since October 1st of last year, the donation destination for "children" has been changed to the "Children's Music Revival Fund," which supports music activities in disaster-stricken areas by repairing and providing musical instruments to educational institutions whose instruments were rendered unusable by the earthquake.

This is a work called "test pattern," which reconstructs minimal units of "data" such as pixels. It is sometimes shown as visuals during live performances.
