Support Expands with Richer Collection of Works
"kizunaworld.org" isRyuichi Sakamotoa project launched in April this year by Ryuichi Sakamoto and media creator Tomoyasu Hirano. It operates on a system where donations allow for the download of works provided by artists who resonate with the project's mission. Currently, the collection has grown to a total of 11 works, including the three newly announced pieces.
This fifth installment features "Sunshine Mandala," composed by Atom Heart, known for his experimental works blending Latin and electronic music, and collaborations with artists such as YMO. Also added is "Environments," a photograph by Andrew Paytner, a photographer and filmmaker based in San Francisco.
Additionally, "Old Skin," a newly written song, was unveiled. It is a collaboration between Ólafur Arnalds, an artist globally recognized for forging his own path at a young age, and Arnór Dan Arnarson, the lead vocalist of the Irish band Agent Fresco and a singer-songwriter in his own right.
Donations are accepted in Japanese yen as well as US dollars. For US dollar donations, a minimum of $10 per contribution is required, payable only via PayPal. The number of donors and the total amount donated are publicly displayed on the website.
Previously, Doctors Without Borders was among the selected charities. This has now been changed to "Médecins du Monde" (Doctors of the World), an international NGO focused on medical activities centered on psychological care. This change reflects the current needs and the nature of support activities required in the affected regions.
Each of these works possesses a unique worldview and is filled with heartfelt thoughts for those affected by the disaster. We encourage you to make a donation and download the works that capture your interest.
