Long-Term Filming Conducted in the Strictly Regulated Tsukiji Market

'TSUKIJI WONDERLAND,' a documentary film screened last year at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, Montreal World Film Festival, and other international events, is now being released on Blu-ray and DVD.

This film offers the first in-depth, long-term look into the "Tsukiji Market," known for its strict reporting regulations, delving into the essence of Japanese food culture. It captures the true spirit of Tsukiji, nurtured by tradition, skill, and passion, showcasing seasonal fish throughout the four seasons, and the human dynamics and lifestyles shaped by professionalism and craftsmanship.

For this home video release, approximately 109 minutes of valuable bonus footage, newly edited by the director from over 600 hours of unreleased material filmed with 150 interviewees, will be included.


In addition to footage of high documentary value, the release includes interviews with chefs and cultural figures featured in the film, discussing their memories of Tsukiji, Japanese seafood, seasonality, and their views on craftsmanship, offering a deeper exploration of Japan's food culture.

Furthermore, a photo book capturing the Tsukiji Market during the film's production has also been released. It presents the market in its entirety across 128 full-color pages, offering an unvarnished look.
