Celebrating Oceanus' 10th Anniversary with a Glamorous Adult Production (1)

Casio's high-function luxury watch "Oceanus," born in 2004, celebrates its 10th anniversary. To commemorate this, "OCEANUS '10th Anniversary PARATY ~KING OF BLUE~'" was held at Maihama Amphitheater. In addition to general attendees, 200 Oceanus purchasers were invited to enjoy a captivating adult party.

A Special Night Begins the Moment You Step into the Venue

As the venue doors opened, elegantly dressed drag queens and dancers greeted guests in the lobby. Beyond them, in front of a booth displaying past and new Oceanus models, alluring Oceanus showgirls danced enveloped in blue curtains. The DJs were Tatsuo Sunaga, known for his "night jazz," and Yoichiro Ito, the event's sound producer. The moment you were enveloped in this space, everyone was surely convinced that tonight would be a special night.

At the food corner, establishments with deep ties to Oceanus, such as "kong tong" from Sangenjaya and "AMARANTH LOUNGE" from Daikanyama, were present. Each offered a special blue cocktail inspired by "Oceanus." Overwhelmed by the scene, we proceeded to the main floor, where a semicircular stage with a high ceiling awaited. Even before the curtain rose, a welcome band was already playing Dixieland jazz, as if greeting the attendees.

A Space and Beautiful Stage That Feels Like Time Travel

The party finally began with a video looking back at Oceanus' 10 years. The MCs were Andrea Pompermaier and Maki Nomiya. The moment the curtain opened, a captivating stage appeared, reminiscent of old burlesque with its staircase decorated with light bulbs and a giant sequined curtain.

Then, the soul-stirring jazz sounds of world-renowned jazz singer akiko and the 21-member big band GENTLE FOREST JAZZ BAND filled the air. Without a moment to linger in the afterglow, the show continued with the Japanese female acrobatics dance company G-Rockets. This was followed by a live performance by TOKYO No.1 SOUL SET, blending dance beats with poetry rap.

After that, a contemporary session by soprano saxophonist Shinsuke Fujieda and dancer PiPPi, as if dedicated to the sea god. The rapid succession of dreamlike performances invited us into a complete state of the extraordinary, making us feel as if we had arrived at the Dragon Palace, not just with Oceanus, but in reality.

Congratulations on Oceanus' 10th Anniversary!

Actually, before the party began on this day, we had a valuable opportunity to interview Ken Yokoyama of the Crazy Ken Band in the waiting room. We would like to share his thoughts on his live performance and his feelings about "Oceanus."

"I just rehearsed, and the set is magnificent! The audience seating surrounds the stage, and the stage itself is so wide that I'm wondering how to use it. Speaking of Casio, they're responsible for so many things, like the Sleng Teng rhythm, familiar in dancehall reggae, and the Casio synth guitar and Casio horn I used for composition."

"Just yesterday, I bought an electronic dictionary on a TV shopping channel. Of course, I always wear my Oceanus, which is why I can no longer make excuses for being late (laughs). But because the time is always accurate, it's incredibly useful for things like classic car rallies. And as a side note, I started wearing a wristwatch during live performances because of James Brown. He glances at his watch frequently during his shows. The idea of wanting to keep the show running precisely on time, that's real show business! I think that's cool. I tend to go over time, though (laughs)."

"Today, at the end, I'll be singing 'Happiness I Wish I Could Rewind'... Oh, is that a secret? My apologies. But today, I want everyone to experience the feeling described in these lyrics, so please enjoy yourselves and have a great time. Congratulations on Oceanus' 10th Anniversary!"

The party was finally nearing its end. However, the engine accelerated further as Crazy Ken Band took the stage. True to the enthusiasm he expressed before the live performance, he demonstrated his masterful live showmanship. Kicking off with "Otoko no Kappatsu-ro," his performance, which brought smiles to everyone in the audience, was breathtaking. The hit song "Tiger & Dragon" was also performed, electrifying the venue.

And the final act was Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra! From the moment the curtain opened, their powerful and dynamic stage presence was undeniable. As Atsushi Yanaka mentioned in our previous interview, "When we first debuted, we consciously performed in places with a cabaret or Showa-era atmosphere, so the vibe of this venue feels nostalgic and I'm looking forward to it," their performance was rich with many of their early popular songs.

Their energetic performance, utilizing the entire stage to express the fun and rebellious spirit of ska, was captivating. The audience rose to their feet, and the venue became completely unified. Finally, as a secret live performance, Ken Yokoyama sang the Oceanus 10th Anniversary song "Happiness I Wish I Could Rewind," accompanied by Ska Para. Before we knew it, all the performing artists appeared on stage, and the adult entertainment show concluded in a state of excitement.

A premium day that could only be experienced at this time, on this day, in this place. It's likely that not only the attendees but also all the performers and staff felt a "happiness they wished they could rewind."
