Vol. 2: Indulging in Hong Kong's Energetic Hotels

Hong Kong Hotel Hopping

♪ Ah~ chi~ chi~ chi! Does that song sound like this heat? Hello everyone, it's Reiko. How are you all doing? I escaped the heat to travel, only to end up in Hong Kong, which is hotter than Tokyo! I relaxed in hip, luxurious hotels in Hong Kong, where you can feel the energetic power of Asia.

Choosing Hotels for Every Occasion

Hong Kong is just about a 4-hour direct flight from Japan, making it an easily accessible destination. It's perfect for a fun girls' trip, or for a romantic Asian night out on a date. And of course, it's also suitable for business trips. I recommend choosing a hotel that suits your purpose from the many options available. For my part, I believe staying at a hotel unique to the destination is a wise way to enjoy the place.

First, I stayed at "East Hong Kong" in Tai Koo Shing. This hotel with its modern interiors was an early adopter of a paperless, all-digital check-in process. The iPhone in the room can be taken out for tethering, making it a great choice for business trips.

The rooms offer either an urban view or a harbor view, so whichever you choose, you'll experience a different facet of Hong Kong. I stayed in a harbor view room this time ♥︎. The Hong Kong cityscape spread out before my eyes was even more romantic at night. It feels almost too good to enjoy alone...

The View from a City Hotel is Simply the Best!

The allure of a city hotel lies in experiencing the essence of the city while staying there. It offers a different charm compared to the ocean views of a resort hotel.

The pool, where I went to escape the heat, offered a quintessential Hong Kong view! It's unique to be surrounded by high-rise residential buildings. Furthermore, the rooftop bar "sugar" boasts a harbor view, providing a luxurious vantage point overlooking Hong Kong Island from the opposite shore. Many people were gathered there from Friday afternoon. Naturally, I enjoyed a glass of champagne. The all-day dining restaurant "feast" on the second floor also allows you to observe authentic Hong Kong life through its large windows.

The Hottest Hotel Right Now

"The Upper House Hong Kong," located near Central Station, is highly regarded among travel enthusiasts. Many fellow travelers have called it their "favorite hotel," so I was eager to stay there, and my wish has finally come true ♥︎.

Opened in 2009, this hotel bypasses a traditional front desk. Instead, a butler-like staff member escorts you to your room, where you complete the check-in process with your passport in a most elegant manner. The interiors, designed by André Fu, are modern and clean, making you feel as though you could live there, exuding a sense of comfort akin to being at home. With a total of 117 rooms, including STUDIO 70, STUDIO 80, and suites, the large windows make the rooms feel even more spacious than they are.

Dining with a View of Hong Kong's Nightscape

The hotel's sole restaurant is "Café Gray Deluxe" on the top floor. However, there are many renowned restaurants in the vicinity, including "Continental by Swire," opened by a former chef from The Upper House, so you won't lack options for exquisite dining.

The night view from "Café Gray Deluxe," a vibrant modern European dining room with an open kitchen, is spectacular, and the restaurant is bustling every night. After dinner, a drink at "Café Gray Bar" is a must. In contrast to the evening ambiance, enjoying dim sum for breakfast while basking in the morning sun was also a delightful experience.

As a pro tip for "The Upper House Hong Kong," you can charge meals from the "Marriott Hotel" on the lower floors or the adjacent "Shangri-La Hotel" and "Conrad Hotel" to your room at "The Upper House Hong Kong." Gentlemen, remembering this will allow for a smoother escort. Ciao!
