A Restaurant Floor Offering Authentic Cuisine, Also Conveniently Accessible

Nowadays, we enjoy dining out more casually. It's often stressful when you can't secure reservations as planned for sudden business dinners or dinners with close friends and family. In such cases, it might be good to venture beyond your usual area. For hospitable hosts and discerning gourmands, the restaurant floor on the 7th floor of Colette Mare, a complex commercial facility opened in Yokohama in 2010, is a worthwhile option to keep in mind.

Colette Mare is directly connected to Sakuragicho Station, and is easily accessible, just 32 minutes from Shinagawa Station and 42 minutes from Tokyo Station via the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line. If you take the Minatomirai Line, which runs directly through the Fukutoshin and Toyoko lines, you can reach the vicinity of Colette Mare in 30 minutes from Shibuya Station or 35 minutes from Shinjuku-Sanchome Station. It's about a 7-minute walk from Minatomirai Station to Colette Mare. You can enjoy a stroll while admiring the Nihon Maru, a historic sailing ship, which also serves as a refreshing change of pace.

Iriescape: A Highly Anticipated French Restaurant Produced by a Master of Italian Cuisine

In 2000, Chef Masayuki Okuda opened Al Checciano in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, advocating for locally sourced Italian cuisine. Chef Okuda, a recipient of numerous awards, now manages 8 directly operated stores and produces 9 other restaurants across Japan (as of January 2023). French cuisine created by this genius from Yamagata opened at Colette Mare in 2021. The chef at the helm is Takayoshi Kamaya, who honed his skills in various renowned restaurants in France before returning to Japan and making a name for himself at his own establishments and French restaurants in Tokyo.
At Iriescape, you can savor course meals, primarily featuring seafood, made with carefully selected ingredients from the Shonai region and Kanagawa Prefecture. With two renowned chefs collaborating on the menu, one might wonder about the cost, but the 5-course omakase menu is surprisingly priced at 4,950 yen (tax and service charge included). For a more substantial meal, the classic 8-course menu is also recommended. Enjoying French cuisine while gazing at the illuminations that adorn the bay of Yokohama, which inspired the restaurant's name, will surely create an unforgettable memory.

Il Saltimbanco: Rediscover the Charm of Italian Cuisine with Authentic Roman Dishes

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the film 'Roman Holiday,' and Il Saltimbanco is a noteworthy restaurant that will remind you of the depth of Italian cuisine. The restaurant is overseen by Anthony Genovese, whose restaurant Il Pagliaccio is a favorite among gourmands in Rome. Born in France to Calabrian parents, Anthony trained at several Michelin-starred restaurants before establishing his own in Italy.
It is well known that there are significant differences in culture and climate between Milan and Rome, and this is strongly reflected in their cuisine. Roman cuisine, characterized by its robust flavors, features dishes like carbonara and amatriciana, which are familiar to many Japanese people. However, most of these are Japanese adaptations. This restaurant serves authentic Roman dishes that carry on the long-standing culinary traditions of Rome. You can also enjoy classic artichokes and lamb, experiencing the true taste of Italy alongside the night view.

Karwaan Bay Yokohama: Experience Fresh Arabian Cuisine with an Exotic Ambiance

The Japanese national football team, which captivated the world by defeating strong opponents consecutively. Karwaan Bay Yokohama is a unique restaurant that introduces the culinary cultures of the Arabian Peninsula, including Qatar (a World Cup host nation), along with the Mediterranean and North African regions, to Japan. The restaurant, named Karwaan, meaning caravan in ancient Persian, is operated by a trading company that engages in commerce with various Middle Eastern countries, blending their diverse food cultures through a Japanese lens.
The menu features a wide array of Muslim-friendly dishes, rich with exotic spices, including Moroccan tagine, known for its health benefits, Turkish kebab, and hummus, a staple across the Middle East. These dishes, rarely experienced in everyday life, offer a delightful discovery. The night view from the interior, filled with an exotic ambiance reminiscent of 'One Thousand and One Nights,' is sure to feel even more romantic than usual.
