Enjoy delicious lemon rice easily at home.
Lemon Rice TOKYO, a specialty lemon rice shop, has launched a project to develop and sell a "Lemon Rice Kit" that allows customers to easily enjoy lemon rice at home.
Crowdfunding goal already surpassed
Lemon Rice TOKYO, a specialty shop opened by Yuya Komiyama, known as the "gourmet guardian" of the music world, with the aim of creating a new local specialty in Shibuya. The shop quickly became popular not only among foodies but also in TV and magazines from the moment it opened.
Komiyama has been a driving force behind the lemon rice boom, participating in food festivals like "dancyu Festival," holding events at Isetan Shinjuku, supervising the "Lemon Rice Onigiri" sold at Natural Lawson, and publishing the recipe book "Lemon Rice Recipes."
Lemon rice is a type of South Indian cuisine, a flavorful rice dish stir-fried with spices and lemon juice. It is a very healthy dish made with white rice mixed with barley, containing no chemical seasonings or pre-made mixes.
In 2021, the shop temporarily closed due to redevelopment around Shibuya Station, shifting its business model to focus on e-commerce and event participation. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many events were canceled, making it difficult to serve lemon rice.
Amidst this situation, they considered how people nationwide could easily enjoy lemon rice, leading to the development of the "Lemon Rice Kit" for making lemon rice at home.
This time, the lemon rice kit is being offered through the crowdfunding platform "CAMPFIRE." Supporters will receive the lemon rice kit as a return gift.
Additionally, they have prepared their popular curry sauce, previously served at Lemon Rice TOKYO, as a special canned product. The sauce, known for being free of chemical seasonings and artificial colors, and gluten-free, was a healthy and light option at the restaurant. For the canned version, the manufacturing method was re-researched and adjusted.
Considering that the texture and flavor of ingredients can change during the canning process, they decided to create a 200g can containing only the sauce, made from whole chicken broth, sautéed vegetable stock, and carefully selected spices. By simply combining it with your favorite ingredients like meat and vegetables, stir-fried in a pan, you can easily make about two servings of delicious curry.
This crowdfunding campaign offers four types of returns, including a set of the canned curry sauce and the lemon rice kit.
Komiyama hopes that people can enjoy their time at home a little more with delicious food, especially during this period when music festivals and food events have been canceled and dining out is not as easy. He also aims to spread the joy of healthy and delicious food, as both the lemon rice kit and original curry sauce are made without chemical seasonings.
With 24 days remaining in the crowdfunding campaign, the total amount raised has already exceeded the goal of 500,000 yen, reaching 620,000 yen, or 124% of the target. This clearly indicates the public's anticipation for lemon rice. The funds raised will be used for product development, raw material costs, and crowdfunding fees.
Now is the perfect opportunity to try making Lemon Rice TOKYO's signature lemon rice at home, something that was previously only possible by visiting their Shibuya store or at limited-time events.
*Vegetables and lemon for garnish are not included.
