A Gourmet Bento Box Featuring Seasonal Delicacies of Kyoto, Limited to 20 Portions Daily
The Japanese restaurant "Touzan" and the pastry boutique at Hyatt Regency Kyoto captivate both locals and visitors alike. Chef Koichi Fujiguchi of Touzan and pastry chef Shunji Yasuda have meticulously crafted a unique Kyoto gourmet bento box and exquisite sweets, utilizing seasonal ingredients with ties to Kyoto.
The bento box, presented in a two-tiered cypress wood container, is adorned with seasonal delicacies from the Kyoto region, including "Kyoto Red Chicken Saikyo-yaki," "Akashi Octopus Simmered with Aromatic Spices," and "Sea Bream Rice Wrapped in Bamboo Leaf" made with Akashi sea bream. Kyoto miso and Fushimi sake are also used to accent the flavors, creating a rich and aromatic bento.
This gourmet bento box is limited to 20 portions per day and requires advance reservation. It can also be enjoyed within "Touzan" for an additional service charge.
Nine Specially Made Sweets Created with a Unique Artistic Vision
Meanwhile, at "Sweets Jewels," seasonal fruits and vegetables from the Kyoto vicinity, along with matcha and miso, are transformed by Chef Yasuda into nine distinct Kyoto flavors. These specially made sweets, born from a unique artistic vision, are presented in an enchanting collection.
The contents vary with the seasons and weather, but currently include the "Manganji Spice Cake," accented with nutmeg and cinnamon, and the "Sansho Miso Almond Cake," baked with sansho miso and apple on an almond base, all visually stunning. Furthermore, the sweets box can be wrapped in a furoshiki (wrapping cloth) of your chosen color, such as pink, green, blue, or navy.
These special bento boxes and sweets are available from the cherry blossom season until early summer. Enjoy them as a companion to your Kyoto travels, a theatrical outing, or a gathering with friends. They are perfect for those special moments, offering a chance to savor spring with all five senses.
