The Final Theme: "The Fragrance of Chanel"
To commemorate its 10th anniversary, Beige Alain Ducasse Tokyo's "10th Anniversary – Rendezvous with Chanel" series has challenged a collaboration with Chanel across three distinct events. Each course is designed to embody various "elements of beauty" from Chanel, presented with special theatricality.
The first "Rendezvous" featured a course inspired by "Paris – Dallas," the theme of Chanel's 2014 Pre-Fall Collection. The second session presented a menu expressing Chanel's timeless icons, such as the camellia, matelassé, and No. 5, beloved across eras and borders.
The Fragrant Finale of Collaboration
The third session in December, titled "Le Jardin extraordinaire," is supervised by Christopher Sheldrake, Chanel's Perfumer and Director of Research and Development. It aims to translate the scents of flowers and plants, inspired by Chanel's fragrances, into culinary creations.
Born from dialogues between Alain Ducasse and Christopher Sheldrake, the menu embodies the "simple & elegant" theme shared by both houses, marking a truly fragrant finale to their collaboration.
During the event period, a tunnel of flowers created by floral artist Nicolai Bergmann will adorn the restaurant lounge, inviting guests into a "gastronomic garden."
CHRISTOPHER SHELDRAKE
Born in India and British by nationality, Sheldrake worked for a fragrance company in Grasse, France, before joining Chanel in 1980. There, he met perfumer Jacques Polge, and through his keen sense for ingredients and new facets, he further refined his skills in fragrance composition and delicate extraction techniques. He strives to create scents that are "comfortable, sensual, and enveloping."
