A Special Dinner to Savor
At Hoshino Resorts KAI Atami's "Villa del Sol," a separate building facing Sagami Bay, a special dinner course featuring "soft-shell Ise lobster" will be offered for a limited six days: September 24-26, 2018 (Mon-Wed) and October 24-26 (Wed-Fri). This is a unique course where guests can savor a miraculous ingredient said to be harvestable only around the full moon.

A Special Dinner to Savor the Rare Soft-Shell Ise Lobster
Soft-shell Ise lobster refers to Ise lobster that has recently molted and has a soft shell. Immediately after molting, the Ise lobster's shell has not yet hardened, making its entire body, from head to tail, remarkably soft – a stark contrast to a typical Ise lobster. It is said that Ise lobsters hide in rocky crevices to molt only during the full moon, and they molt only about twice a year. The lobsters caught during the fishing season are therefore an exceptionally rare delicacy.
Upon hearing about the existence of this soft-shell Ise lobster from a local fisherman, Chef Shigeru Konno of Hoshino Resorts KAI Atami's "Villa del Sol" devised a special menu. The soft head portion is expertly fried to a delightful crisp, while the body is gently grilled, creating a "Soft-Shell Ise Lobster Fritter" that offers a wonderful contrast in textures. The dish is made even more exquisite with a sauce crafted from the lobster's rich tomalley, ensuring that every part of the soft-shell Ise lobster is savored.

Diners at Villa del Sol, with its sweeping ocean views, can enjoy their meal while gazing at the "moon road" illuminated by the full moon. The moon road is the "path of moonlight" cast upon the sea. When the bright full moon rises above the horizon, it creates a single, shimmering path of light on the undulating waves – a truly mystical sight visible only around the time of the full moon.
