Octomore: A Single Malt Whisky Renowned for Its Intense Smoky Flavor
Octomore is a single malt whisky produced by Bruichladdich Distillery, located on the Isle of Islay in Scotland. Its name means "The Great Eighth" in Gaelic, and it is cherished by enthusiasts for possessing the world's most intense peat smoke aroma. It was conceived from the idea of what would happen if barley, dried over peat fires imparting aromas of smoke, earth, and grass, were distilled in Bruichladdich's stills, known for their elegant, fruity, and floral style.
For 15 years, it has continued to innovate, drawing attention for its experimental spirit and robust quality, and has now earned trust as a legendary spirit with unfathomable depth.
The eighth edition, "Octomore 08.1 Scottish Barley," has now been born. Using Scottish barley harvested in 2007, the spirit was distilled the following year and aged for eight years in 100% first-fill American oak casks.
Its characteristic is a superb combination of fruit and smoke aromas. While the taste has a soft and delicate texture, it offers the rich, diverse flavors unique to Octomore. The smoky aftertaste from the peat lingers until the finish.
