The 'Glenmorangie Astar 2017' is characterized by its maturation exclusively in designer casks crafted to order. This cask-making process begins with the careful selection of white oak trees grown slowly in Missouri, USA, followed by approximately two years of natural air-drying.

The wood, allowed to breathe deeply, is said to impart aromas of vanilla and crème brûlée, while toasting the assembled casks further develops notes of almond and coconut. These casks are then seasoned with bourbon for four years. The empty casks are transported to Scotland, where the spirit destined to become 'Astar' finally matures.

This whisky, named 'Astar'—meaning 'journey' in Gaelic—embodies the concept of a 'journey in pursuit of the finest casks.' Its taste is marked by a creamy, spicy aroma and a silky texture.
