The Ultimate Scotch. Johnnie Walker Blue Label by Tom Dixon | JOHNNIE WALKER

JOHNNIE WALKER

Twice up is good, but...
Tonight, with the perfect serve

With a philosophy of "creating the ultimate whisky," at a time when age statements were considered the sole measure of a whisky's value, they boldly blended whiskies of different ages without reservation. Furthermore, "Johnnie Walker" created the genre of luxury whisky, overturning existing notions. For its top-tier brand, "Blue Label," world-renowned creator Tom Dixon has crafted a sophisticated package. To enjoy the noble and refreshing aroma characteristic of Blue Label, and this exquisite visual, tonight we propose a new way to drink it.

Prepare ice-cold water

When the secret is revealed, it's nothing more than ordinary ice water.

But the new approach is to drink this ice water beforehand, not as a chaser.

First, nose the Blue Label. I want to feel the beauty of the top-tier label, with its noble sweetness, by placing my nose inside the straight glass.

Raisins, fruit, honey, chocolate... it would be ideal to imagine hints of these aromas.

With that sweet impression, drink the ice water. However, do not swallow immediately after taking it into your mouth.

Un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix.

Count slowly to ten.

It doesn't have to be in French, but to suppress your eagerness, let's make it a little more challenging. Okay. You can drink that water now.

This is the perfect serve.

Hmm? It's understandable if a question mark appears in your mind. This way of drinking is quite advanced.

But there is an important meaning to following these steps.

Immediately, take a sip of Blue Label. Swirl it around your tongue. Although not mentioned earlier, of course, it is straight.

Whisky has been aged for a long time. Adding a few drops

of water causes the alcohol to evaporate. The elegant aroma of Blue Label spreads throughout your mouth. To put it another way, it's like a sudden downpour on a midsummer day. That feeling when the scent of the earth and rain spreads out.

Of course, there is also the method of adding water directly to Blue Label. Twice up is a way of drinking where water is added in the same amount as the whisky to enjoy the spreading aroma. However, by drinking the water first, the necessary moisture to spread the aroma remains in your mouth.

And there is one more important reason. By holding ice water in your mouth for a certain period, your sense of taste is deliberately dulled. As the Blue Label is gradually warmed by your body temperature and your sense of taste slowly returns, it begins to release various flavors. Sweetness spreads first, gradually transforming into the characteristic taste of whisky. Hidden aromas and flavors appear one after another, allowing you to break down the complex and chaotic taste.

Johnnie Walker is a prime example of blended whisky. It uses single malts from various distilleries in Scotland

to add complexity to the flavor. In the case of its top-tier brand, Blue Label, only the finest aged spirits, one in ten thousand casks, are used. To unravel such a rare symphony slowly and carefully, these techniques come into play.

The more complex the taste of a whisky, the more difficult it is to unravel. So, why not deliberately dull the sense of taste and make the transmission primitive? If you think it's a lie, try alternating between straight and the perfect serve. See, you will surely be amazed at how different the flavors are!
