A Variety of Flavors and Deep Smoky Taste
Ardbeg is a single malt whisky born in 1815 on the Isle of Islay, Scotland. It is known for its intensely peaty and smoky character, yet possesses a delicate sweetness and high quality, boasting a cult following.
Every year, from the last week of May to the first week of June, the Isle of Islay hosts the "Islay Whisky Festival," a celebration of whisky. During this period, each distillery holds an "Open Day" on a rotating basis, attracting passionate malt fans seeking limited edition products only available locally.
Ardbeg marks the final day of these "Open Days." This day is designated as "Ardbeg Day," a celebration shared not only by Ardbeg fans gathered on Islay but also by fans worldwide.
The limited edition product Ardbeg Kelpie, commemorating Ardbeg Day 2017, has now been released. The spirit was matured in virgin oak casks from the Black Sea, combined with spirit aged in bourbon casks, to maximize its peaty and smoky profile.
Simultaneously, aromas and flavors of clove, herbs, toffee, and black pepper lend a deep, ocean-like complexity.
The name 'Kelpie' is inspired by the legendary sea spirit, the "Kelpie," said to inhabit the seas surrounding Islay, the island that nurtures Ardbeg.
We invite you to experience the unique taste brought about by Ardbeg's diverse aromas on this special occasion.
