With a concept of "from farm to table," FARMSHOP, a popular high-casual restaurant from California known for its carefully selected ingredients and diverse menu, is arriving in Japan. The concept: "Farm to table"
FARMSHOP is a high-casual restaurant with locations in Santa Monica and San Francisco, California. Its mottoes are "valuing local," "being artisans," and "small-scale production." It offers dishes finished in a California style, using safe, fresh ingredients sourced primarily from local producers whose faces are known. The restaurant is bustling daily with customers who have high standards for food, from Hollywood stars living nearby to families.
FARMSHOP Futako-Tamagawa, opening in the town of Futako-Tamagawa where urban life and nature coexist, is expected to be an environment where such dedication, from sourcing ingredients to the restaurant's atmosphere, can be recreated in Japan. The interior design was handled by the same studio, Commune, as the U.S. locations, creating a space that blends sophistication with casualness. It is anticipated to be a place where one can fully enjoy the rich appeal born from the nature of both California and Japan.
The menu is also structured to suit different times of the day. On weekdays, guests can casually enjoy pastries, egg dishes, granola, and organic juices at the counter or tables. Lunch offers options like sandwiches with house-made pastrami, pasta, and seasonal salads made with organic vegetables.
For dinner, the menu features a wide selection from appetizers like hummus, salads, and rillettes, to the restaurant's signature roast chicken made with domestic premium chicken and bone-in ribeye steak, as well as desserts. Fresh wine and craft beer are also available directly from the tap.
The grocery section offers practical goods, including a collaboration market bag with "goods APOLIS" and the "Vegie BAG," designed to hold market-bought vegetables upright. The food selection focuses on "local & artisan" themes, featuring wines, jams, and oils carefully selected by the owner-chef.
Owner-chef Jeff Cerciello expresses his enthusiasm: "FARMSHOP is a place to foster a community centered around food, and also a place to honor and support local farmers and producers. Without this connection, our ideas about food wouldn't exist. We are honored to introduce our concept of 'food and spirit' to Japan."
