Collaboration Fair Held with Gion Sasaki, a Renowned Kyoto Restaurant


From August 1st (Saturday) to 31st (Monday), Hotel Nikko Tokyo will host a collaboration fair at its Japanese restaurant Sakura with Gion Sasaki, a Kyoto kappo restaurant said to be the most difficult to reserve in Kyoto. Furthermore, on August 1st (Saturday) and 2nd (Sunday), Chef Hiroshi Sasaki will visit the hotel for an event featuring dynamic, live culinary performances and luxurious dishes.

Gion Sasaki is a leading Kyoto restaurant that has earned two Michelin stars for six consecutive years. The dishes created by Chef Hiroshi Sasaki are not only delicious but also visually stunning and innovative. His meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful touches, designed to delight every guest, have impressed numerous celebrities and gourmands.

Last year's collaboration between Sakura, Hotel Nikko Tokyo's Japanese restaurant, and Gion Sasaki was a great success, and this year it returns. This time, the focus is on pursuing the essence of Japanese cuisine by adding a seasonal touch to the menu, unique to the renowned Gion restaurant. Using carefully selected, premium ingredients such as abalone and tilefish, which are in season during summer, the dishes are presented in a kaiseki-style arrangement, embodying Sasaki's kappo approach.

Additionally, during the "Two-Day Event to Savor the Essence of Gion Sasaki Kappo" held on the first two days, August 1st (Saturday) and 2nd (Sunday), Chef Hiroshi Sasaki will visit from Kyoto. At a special stage in the Teppanyaki restaurant Ginkgo, he will showcase his skillful culinary creations and his signature dynamic "Sasaki Theater" performance right before your eyes.





For the special menu available only on these dates, guests can enjoy recommended Japanese sake and shochu, also served in Kyoto, as well as wines selected by Hotel Nikko Tokyo's Executive Chef Sommelier, Hiroshi Ishida, to perfectly complement the dishes.
